Re: Does anyone staddle bet their NL games?

YES, We play that UTG can straddle and UTG +1 can re-straddle and so forth......

Example: 2/5 NL. UTG straddles for $10 and then UTG +1 can re-straddle for $15 and UTG +2 can triple straddle for $20...and so forth.

I have seen a quad straddle for $25!!

This game gets a little crazy at times.

But, When you look down at pocket rockets and there is already 80 dollars in the pot.....it's nice.

I've straddled before and flopped broadway against top two pair......it can be very addictive because it always pays off.

I was under the impression that a straddle is when the UTG player doubles the big blind, and what makes it different than a minimum raise is the fact that he can act last preflop now. But if some people dont agree to straddle, then the UTG player can still post that double blind, but that will be his action and he wont get to act last preflop. The only time Ive seen a straddle is on High Stakes Poker. Its actually happened a few times on the show. Each time they make sure everyone at the table is ok with it first, and if so they do it for a round or two. I think I remember someone not agreeing to it so the table didnt do it.

Re: Does anyone staddle bet their NL games?

Only the person UTG can straddle..if another person does this..it is just considered a blind raise, without the option of raising himself again..at least that's the way it is handled at Foxwoods.
I personally feel that a straddle is the dumbest bet going...anytime I get good cards a against a straddle I raise..I like my chances when a player is yet to see his cards... To that effect, I guess it does loosen up the game, but I'm not sure I want to donate my money to loosen up the game. Other people's straddles are always welcome

They were doing that, but technically it’s not a straddle bet. They were simply agreeing to an additional ante of the same amount, by all players.

No, I'm pretty sure they were trying to get everyone to agree to a round of straddles, not everyone putting in an additional ante each hand.

Oh. I didn’t realize they were doing an entire orbit. I thought it was just one hand.

Nah, that's why you here them talking about it from time to time, "are we gonna straddle a round?" etc... most want to, but I think wasn't it Matusow who was not wanting to do it?

Re: Does anyone staddle bet their NL games?

If UTG+1 does a second straddle, it should be considered a blind raise and cannot act last (unlike the initial UTG straddle).

Re: Does anyone staddle bet their NL games?

in the few times I've seen a UTG+1 straddle at a casino, it's been live. i.e. last to act.
