Is this a misdeal?

Had a case come up yesterday where I didn't think it was a misdeal, but a couple other players thought it was and before I could make a decision all the cards had been tossed in. Not too happy about that.

Dealt as normal until it came around to the button and he flipped up the button's first card. No big deal, continue as normal. Then after the button gets his 2nd card, he still needs to replace the flipped card, so he gets what would have been the burn card.

Well a couple of my guys said that's a misdeal because you can't give somebody 2 cards in a row. I've never seen this in any of the misdeal rules that I've read and it kind of makes no sense to me. Who cares if it was 2 cards in a row? They were randomized and it's no different than any other player getting that burn card for a flipped card.

So what's the ruling?

Saying this is like saying that starting your deal on the BB is ok...Ya it is all randomized but it still bothers people.

Argosy casino plays it as a mis-deal.

Re: Is this a misdeal?

Cant get two cards in a row? thats a new one thats what happens when the button is misdealt..... they get two cards in a row - unless there is some new rule if the button is misdealt the hand is a misdeal - j/k.

I dont think this was a misdeal. The deal was messed up, but not a misdeal.

Here's a recent misdeal i lived through: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/home-p...urn-river.html

Re: Is this a misdeal?

If the house rule is that when a card flips up, you keep going as normal and replace the flipped card with what have been the burn card, then I think this is not a misdeal.

Re: Is this a misdeal?

Also be sure to let them know that in the future, if they muck their cards because they decide it's a misdeal then all they have done is mucked thier hand and lost their blind if they had one posted. The hand should continue with whomever is left that still has cards. If it's only one person then they win the blinds.

People can "decide" that a hand is a misdeal as a sort of angle shooting tactic.

Re: Is this a misdeal?

Most casinos I have played in consider this a misdeal.

From what i have seen, most dont enact the "continue dealing like normal and replace the misdealt card off the top" rule until every player has at least 1 card.

In other words, if a player's FIRST card flipped over its a misdeal. If its a player's second card, its replaced at the end of the deal with the would-be first burn card.
