last night we had a home game and on one hand... one person had Kc 5c and the other had 3c 4c... Now the flop came Ac Js 6c... then Kc 5c calls all in and the other calls... now the turn and river are also clubs.... the argument was does the Ac on the table determine a split pot...or does the person with the Kc wins the pot being second highest flush... wins??? please advice with all your expertise... ...
also second questions.. can you guys helps us out when does the kicker on a hand play. We have had situations where we are not agreeing when the kicker plays a role in determining the winning hand...
The person that has the highest club in their hand wins because they have a higher flush. It takes five cards to make a hand. You play your best five cards, whether it is all five on the board or a combination of the board and one or both of your hole cards. If there are two pair on the board and no one can make a better hand than that, the better kicker.
The best five cards win. I lost a hand last Friday evening despite having three pairs - pocket threes in my hole with the board showing two tens, two eights, and a brick. My opponent couldn't even pair the board, but had a king which out kicked my threes and the brick. Talk about a crappy way to loose a hand, but the best five cards play.

so that we undestand the Ace on the board didn't matter since the guy with the 3c 4c was also using the ace on the board to make his flush???... there statement was since the guy with the 3c 4c aslo used the Ac on the board to make his best flush... that is why the pot was split.. but the other person..argue that his Kc should have taken the pot... even though the ace was on the board... so that it is clear... what you guys are saying is that :
Kc 5c
3c 4c
board: Ac Js 6c 10c 8c
winner should have been Kc Ac 10c 8c 6c
and not a plit ??

Nothing worse than getting your pocket pair counterfeited and losing to someone with no hand. Happned to my last time my group played, so I know exactly how you felt.
The first player is playing a higher flush. Don't forget even though they share cards they both still end up with a 5 card hand. It'd be like if you were playing 7 card stud and the two hands were:
Easy to see who has the winning hand there right?
PS got interrupted so I'm going to guess that 3 other people have replied already explaining it even better than me but I figured I'd finish anyway .
wow 7 replies not 3. ok so it was a longer interruption than I thought.
Thought I'd add, just think of it this way:
Player 1:
Player 2:
Player 1's AK high flush beats Player 2's AT flush. The fact that it's the same suit flush has no bearing because it's a game that includes community cards. The only way a flush would have split here would be if both players played a flush on the board IE:
