Re: Button, blinds and going to heads up question

Isnt the dealer BB and the SB is the first player which also gets the cards first?

I thought the dealer BB and was LAST to act pre-flop.

my home games have ran this way for months.. is it wrong?

Re: Button, blinds and going to heads up question

I just remember this:
The BB always moves forward to the next available player...the other player will post the SB and be the dealer.

Yeah it's actually the SB that is the dealer.

When I first started playing my cell phone hold em game did it like you described so I swore up and down that was the right at my first home game

some book of rules i had said the dealer was BB which is why he acts last.

if your Dealer and your SB Then how can the BB act first? I don't get this?

The way this works is that pre-flop, the button (SB) acts first. After the flop, turn, and river, the button acts last as you would expect.

It's great having the button heads-up... it is a very significant advantage.

Think of it this way (Dissolved), the dealer never* acts last preflop, the big blind does...but after the flop the dealer then has the advantage of position.

* Disclaimer: I know there are scenerios where the dealer could be last to act preflop (i.e. dealer raises preflop and then another player re-raises) but I'm generalizing for this example.

Exactly. Just post blinds in order and put the button in front of the SB, doesn't matter where the button was last hand.

Re: Button, blinds and going to heads up question

Ill print out the Homepokertourny sheet and take it with me to my home games.

last 5 months the dealer has been BB seeing as he acts last preflop. so I'll need to change it.
