But I'm not really clear on that..... I thought Roberts rules were linked on this website somewhere but I can't find it. |
You can look it up if you want, but I believe Robert's Rules says if ANY betting action is made. This only makes sense, making your bet on the turn is a "tell" if you will, about your hand and getting that card changed after your bet would be unfair. |

Had I been at MY house, we always have a laptop with internet access in the poker room at the ready to go to a rule book. But I was a guest (for once) at another players house.
I thought the Ace should stand/play too, but wasn't in the mood to argue with the table and mess up my kharma for the night.
But if it happens again, I think the vote was unanymous to the contrary of our actions. |

But returning all the chips to the players sets a bad precedent. I hate to say it, but there may be a dealer who tries this purposely the next time, in an effort to get his own chips back which were placed into the pot on a hand which just became dead. |

If it is a friendly game, and there is no reason to suspect cheating by anyone. Then play the card. If there was any action on a card in play then there is a indication of the way you will play the hand. You can't really turn a new card or change the action. It could change the outcome, thusly giving infromation away about your hand.
I don't see a good case to call the hand dead when everyone had a chance to take action on that card. Unless someone is cheating, what does it matter? None right?
However there is an old card players maxim...
"Trust everyone at the table, but always cut the cards" Just because everyone I play with is my pal doesn't mean I don't cut and I don't burn. Its that I just don't make a big deal about people screwing it up.
