Re: O8 qualifying for low

Along these lines, which is the winning low in this scenario (for any game that does low, not just omaha):

A 2 3 6 7
A 3 4 5 7

I know which one I believe is winning low, but curious which is right. I think different online sites figure their winning lows differently since I lost a low hand once that I think I should have won.

The lowest would be A2346. A2345 is a straight, as is 45678 and 23456. Or is there no rule for straights?

Straights are not relevant to low hands. A2345 (wheel) is the best LOW hand

A 3 4 5 7 is the best hand here. Start with the highest card & work down.

Using this 'easy' method, the hands would be: 75,431 and 76,321

Now its easy to tell which is the lower hand . I think this is a good way to look at it - regardless of what Jojo says!

Typically this is true for most low games (O8, 7CS H/L) but I know you can play Triple Draw in the A-5 version (str8s and flushes don't count) or in the 2-7 version (literally the worst poker hand) where str8's and flushes do hurt you. I think Razz and 7CS H/L can be played this way also.

Nothing like playing Triple Draw one way when the rest of the table is playing the other way, duh.

Re: O8 qualifying for low

Yeah, that's what PS said was the better hand. I could swear though that one of the sites, UB I think it was, would do the A2 as a lower low.

I used to play O8 at UB and I never noticied any issue with how they determine the low. It can be confusing especially when you get 4 or 5 low cards and your A23K loses to a KQ65 when the board shows A3478.
