Chips: 10 | | | Home Game Hand Ruling Question In a 6 handed game the other night with all 6 people still in, I went all in before the flop. I had a king/deuece of clubs. 2 People called.
The flop was 2 clubs and an irrelevant card. The other 2 people checked.
The turn was a King, both checked again.
The river was a 3rd club on the board. One person bet, the other folded.
So I said what do you have? The guy who bet said, I've got Kings. I then said I've got Kings... I then momentarily paused and said, but I've also got a deuce of clubs. Showing the King high club flush.
The guy who lost the hand then got mad because I didn't "call" the flush immediately. And because I "called" that I had a pair of Kings he thought we should split the pot and that he shouldn't have lost.
I was always under the impression that the cards speak for themselves.
Granted, it could be viewed partly as a **** move on my part for not saying I had the flush right away. However, you can't exactly ignore the cards. I mean, in a casino a dealer is having you place your cards on the table and then the best hand showing wins.
Keep in mind this is a friendly game and I was just busting his balls a little.
Has anyone ever seen this as a house rule people use? I've always been under the impression that the cards speak for themselves. One of our friends said: "Well then why don't you just call a royal flush all the time."
And what if someone mistakes their hand? You can't ignore the cards.
Any feedback is great. Thanks. |

Chips: 131 | | | Slow rolling is not encouraged, but the cards do speak.

Chips: 1,513 | | | Was the situation: you went all in, you and it was at the showdown, or were both hands still in the dark? (meaning neither of you had shown your cards?)
Yes you were busting his balls, and yes he should have seen that you had the flush, but if is somewhat new to the game, which it sounds like he might have been, then busting his balls that way was "sort of a **** move"
But as others have said, cards speak. |

Chips: 88 | | | That is a slow roll and players do get mad when you do that. Inexperience players like to slow roll or as you call it "bust his balls." I have learned and also other players not to slow roll.
It is like kicking your opponent where it hurts when you already have him down. |

Chips: 1,589 | | | You win the pot, but it's a crappy thing to do. Slow rolling, although not illegal, is not a cool thing to do at our home games.
A buddy and me used to do it to eachother all the time just to mess with eachother. It was like a competition. I won when he had a full boat, and I told him I had two pair....10's, and 10's. :P
Still though, not cool to do. |

Chips: 934 | | Ditto the other comments - pretty lousy way to play, but cards speak..
More importantly, though, with everyone still playing in a 6 handed game, why the hell are you going all in preflop with K-2 suited? And why are you getting 2 calls? Sounds like an online play money sit-n-go.. |

I would have been happy to steal the blinds. And I was not exactly happy that 2 people called. I got lucky. That's fairly obvious. |
