Another thread jack (I hope Noel is doing better ), When Walton was with the Celtics he was at best a cheerleader. He was the white ML Carr at that time, waving the towel was his main contribution to the team, at that time in his career.
this thread is overjacked....
what else could walton do? at that point in time? cheerlead.. i loved the hockey / lacrosse games i saw 92-94! PDX just hosted the lacrosse all-star game
Walton is horrible to have to listen to on TV.

Walton played great backup center that year. I don't think you guys remember much about Big Bill. If he hadn't been nearly crippled by the Portland Trailblazers team doctors, Portland would have been a Dynasty. He wasn't the only one either. I think Bobby Gross was the other guy. The docs were shooting these guys feet with painkillers so they could keeep playing and did both guys irrepairable harm. Walton could do it all. He played great D could shoot (the window was his best friend) and was a brilliant passer and rebounder. As far as his commentary goes, for him to be doing anything like that is a feat in itself. He had bad speech impediments growing up, and to overcome them and become a braodcaster is a very rare thing. If you look up the records of teams that had a healthy Bill Walton, you would be astonished.
