Ohhh Nooooo

well last night my local poker club was raided.they took all the chips and all the money and also all the plasma tvs.but left the tables and the blind schedule tvs.

here is a short article on it.

http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dl...1197/LOCAL1802

it was a $25 rebuy night.they also hold cash games every night.this club was open 7 days a week and had many professional dealers.they hold tournaments of different buy ins every day of the week ranging from $25 rebuy to $200 and also cash games of any stake can be played as long as there is enough people willing to play.there is at least 2 tables worth of $1/$2 every night.usually 1 or 2 tables of $2/$5.the largest ive seen played is $5/$10.

well i guess its back to internet poker.or i will be making lots of trips to argosy or maybe the new french lick resort and casino.they are also hiring

Re: Ohhh Nooooo

Was the club taking a rake? Is this why it was raided?

Re: Ohhh Nooooo

no thank god i wasnt there.i usually go on monday, tuesday, friday, and sometimes saturday.i didnt go last night because i was very tired from work.i could have easily been there.

here are a couple of wierd things for you to think about

1) one player was a indiana state police officer.he had been playin there for a year and a half.(he was not the informant)
2)there was a cop that usually sat in the parking lot and watched fro speeders.he would talk to all of us when the games were over at night.he was a really nice guy and couldnt care less.

i agree with you.the club is located in a high drug traffic area and has a HUGE murder rate.i think there was just a couple things better that they could be doing.they had been investigating it for a year.I MEAN COME ON.all that time wasted for this.

This is a classic line that I've heard more than once during my career. Usually it's someone in the wrong and they try to deflect what they did wrong and say that. Or the'll toss another fine nugget like "why don't you catch the real criminals." Normally I'll just ignore it but sometimes I'll run with it. I'll tell them that I was bored and had nothing better to do. Then they'll tell me to get the drug dealers, prostitutes, gang bangers, ect. I'll try to explain that we have other officers addressing those problems and we'll go from there. Most of these encounters are when we are conducting traffic enforcement, a menial job that has to be enforced. Though we'll hear it when enforcing other minor transgressions.

jamby I'm not trying to insult you or demean your post but somebody has to address a complaint, violation or in this case illegal gambling. It would be in my opinion that someone ratted out the poker club. Someone either lost some considerable amount of money, or a wife or girlfriend got pissed off at their man, for either playing too much or losing too much money and called the police. There could be a number of reasons why they decided to investigate it besides that the club too a rake too. Either way, I wouldn't want to be invovled in the raid, but if I was I hope they had some sweet chips.

To me this would be a lot of paperwork for something like this and in the end nothing will happen criminally, besides the guy with the gun. The owner could lose his license but it all depends on how much juice he has in the community.

Oh and to answer your question, yes I normally have better things to do but I'm addicted to poker chips and this site.
