Red face CRAP! My local poker club is facing a legal battle!

..... for serving food without a permit from the health department.

http://www.kokomotribune.com/local/l...023233956.html

The Kokomo River Club is facing a potential legal battle, not over the conducting of Texas Hold ’Em tournaments, but for serving food without a permit from the Howard County Health Department.

...

Sue Norris, an environmental health specialist with the health department, told members of the Howard County Board of Health on Monday that the department is seeking a court injunction to stop the serving of food at the club.

A cease and desist order was issued by the department last August and three warnings have been issued, Norris said.

Re: CRAP! My local poker club is facing a legal battle!

Yeah... that sure makes alot of sense!! I hope you were joking

1 X $10 per yer = profit????
10 x $100 per year
100 X $1000 per year
1000 x $10,000 per year = Profit???

maybe echo could chime in and let us know how they make any money. The food cost alone they would be bankrupt in a month. Not to mention drinks, rent, electricity and other expeditures.

Re: CRAP! My local poker club is facing a legal battle!

My guess is...there is more to this than what we know. There is now way possible an organization can only collect $10 per person annually and still profit. They either tell people this to cover up the full story or they are just freakin rich and just love to cater to people. I highly doubt the second option.

Every private card room I have been in has offered food/drinks. This is a way to get people in and cater to their needs while they are losing money at your place.

Re: CRAP! My local poker club is facing a legal battle!

Each time you visit (at least at Indy River Club), you pay an optional $5 cook toke and a $5 Dealer toke. These tokes also gets you an additional $500/ea to start the tournament. T1500...without tokes you would start tournament with T500.
