Casinos offer many things that a home game doesnt.

1. drinks, even though its not required, i do tip a dollar which is still cheaper than what i would pay outside.

2. Security, I can play without worrying about scandals and upset players. The casino will take care of that for me.

3. Professional dealer, which is the most important thing. I am not that crazy about entering a KGB or Chesterfield clubs where players deal themselves.

About the incident, i am heavily against people who rake. Casinos have somthing that underground clubs dont and that is a licence. What comes along with the licence is an assurance that players will be secured, their will be no shortage of money, and most importantly, professionals who are well trained in such operation. The last thing i want is for the poker industry to be the WIld West.

Re: Virginia man accused of running hotel poker game

Gotta add a "me too!" about illegal poker games. Licensing and regulation is a neccesary evil in an industry like gambling. Underground clubs have no oversight which leads to corruption.

I won't play in an underground club just because of the very real possibility of arrest or robbery. Lets not even get into house-sanctioned colluders and cheaters. I love to play in home games but like to see reasonable security precautions such as LOCKING THE DOOR. Jeez ppl... some of you have $2500 in the "bank" and the front door is WIDE open. It blows my mind.
