I'm curious as to what other provinces laws may be...? In Saskatchewan it is legal to host poker games, (ring or tournament) as long as the "house" doesnt profit from it. We were going to host a big tournament and decided we should call the RCMP and the Local Police, both had no idea of what the laws were, so they obviously dont even care about home poker games up in Canada.

Here in New Brunswick, as far as I know, as long as the house isn't taking a rake/making any profit, it is fine.
