The Clinton Cup of Poker Pt I - Friday, August 19th

Hello all...

Been a while. Anyway, I'm hosting a series of Games August, September and October in an effort to 'tip the cap' to old school Vegas poker.

I was lucky enough to score a playable (some will dispute that) set of Bob Stupak's Vegas World Tournament chips and would like to use them (before I sell them) in a series of old Vegas tournaments.

What I'm proposing is this:

3 Games using a point system to determine the best-of-the-best (insert picture of Hot Shots here).

Winner at the end (highest point total) will receive their very own Clinton Cup trophy and all the glamour that comes with it here on CT. Would like to keep the field down to 14 players and have them be mostly CTers.

I'll leave the games up to the people actually playing in the Clinton Cup of Poker.

Games:

1 - HROSS (Pot Limit) $40 (H = Holdem R = Razz O = Omaha 8 S = 7 Stud S = 7 Stud/
2 - Ace to 5 Draw w/ Joker (this was an event at the 1983 America's Cup) $40
3 - Omaha Pot Limit $40

$40 per buy-in. Winner of will get a Hat from the Vegas World Tournament in 1984 to commemorate their achievement (along with cash-eesh). Shouldn't be too sweaty! (j/k - it's new old stock = no sweat)

I'll open it up for discussion since we have time left, but I'm set on having old-school games. I have nothing against NLHE...just want a tournament structure / series that's a bit different.

I will post the points structure soon.

Post your interest and thoughts here!

In!

My votes are for 2-7TD, PLO, Razz, NLHE and HORSE. LHE would be ok but pure 7stud would be a snoozefest.

Some other good old-school games would be 5 card stud and of course 5 card draw.

Anyone want to set the over/under on whether the chips are sold before or after the tourney starts?

I'm probable as well. I have to read up on how to play the other games so that I know what I'm doing.

Here's the link to the chips being used along with the winner's 'fuzzy ball' Vegas World cap! WoOt!

http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...ml#post1078071

I don't care if we only have 8 players...we're using these old school chips and rockin' it all night! If you guys are lucky, I'll dust off some Sly and the Family Stone vinyl biz-nitches!

As a side note...that's one thing dolomite does not flip...70s funk vinyl!!!

I hate that I can't be there knowing Sly will be on the turntable. If You Want Me to Stay is a top 10 all time favorite for me. Best bass groove ever!
