Yeah, playing without chips just sucks. I would rather play some other game if I have no chips or money to gamble. There was a group of annoying guys that played Texas Holdem very loudly on my train on the day of one of my exams. Someone would throw a shitfit every single hand about the guy making his two pair or just a pair of queens holding up or king high winning it. But they weren't even playing for money or using chips or anything. And some of the comments I heard about pot odds and buying the pot... ugh, I couldn't study at all because these guys were so annoying.

Back on subject, I like playing outside. But its a daytime activity for days that are not windy. The garage is a good place to play, because decks can be a big problem. If it is somewhat windy, stay away from flop games, play draw games instead.

Nothing like getting a suntan, smoking a fine cigar, and dragging a huge pot. :cool:

I posted this in the boat thread, but here goes again.

I go rafting a few times a year and we use a transparent piece of plastic about 3 inches tall and 1ft long. We take a few pennys and sitck them under the corners of the plastic to make room for the cards. Then we slide the cards under the plastic and play away.

it works pretty well.

I guess if you want to play bad enough, there is always a way. That is an excellent idea, first time I heard of that.

just for more fyi -

i pack the chips in an ammo box that gets straped to the frame of the raft we use a ~200 set of chips - sometimes rocks come into play... well (if you've read my other posts) stamps come into play.

Most of the time we ride rapids & fish/side bet on the number of trout vs. size we're gunna catch.

the faux do not melt - it gets 105 easy in eastern OR. & i've got them in an ammo box +135?

anyone have bouyant chips for sale? +EBAY "COULD SAVE SOMEONE OVERBOARD FROM DROWNING" - testimony: "i grab'd the chipbox cuz thatz where the money is... & i floated it to shore. no one else made it?"
