I let PokerStars and Party stack 'em for me! ops:

I'm more a "multiple of five" kind of guy. I actually get annoyed when my chips are right in front of my face. I usually line them up in stacks of five until there's too many to fit along the rail then go to 10, rinse and repeat with 15, etc.

I generally keep to stacks of 20. Makes it easier to keep a good count of my ever-dwindling stack.

i will have to absolutely agree with fetish here....

large denominations should ALWAYS be up front, within clean and easy view for all to see.....

last week i was in a tournametn at hollywood park,
i was sitting on about 19,000 in chips in the big blind (i had a lot of 500 chips, not many 100 chips)....
i had 3 8 spades in the big blind (blinds were 1000-2000), person in seat number 6 raises to 4000, i just call....
flop is 2 spades and an ace on the board, i checked my opponent went all in, by sizing up his stack just by looks i figured i had him covered easily (as he had a bunch of 100 stacks), well, after i called his all in, he pulls out about 20 500 denom chips and i realized he had me covered.....
he had A2 (no spades)....

what i was upset about was that he was "hiding" his large denomination chips behind the small denomination chips, this is deceiving to everyone at the table and is considered bad ettiquette....

had i known he had me covered, i easily fold the hand...
but figuring i'd either be super large stack or have to wait for a good hand, i easily called on a draw....

i told him about my feelings on him putting the chips int he back, he thought nothing of it, took my money and laughed....

oh well,
free,
d

I like to put it all into one stack. And when I go all-in I just knock over the entire stack and let it splash the entire table!!!

Lol, bet the B&M dealers would love that.

Seriously, I keep 'em in the same size that fits in a rack (usually 20). Plus I keep a few side stacks that are built for various sizes of bets (2x, 4x, 6x, etc...)

For online play and to add a touch of realizm, on occasion when I'm playing a tournament on Stars, I like to count out a stack worth 1500 chips and play with that. As I put in bets I push out a stack on my desktop. If I win then I grab more chips from my set. That works up to a point cuz I eventually run out of available chips if I end up in the money in a large tournament.

I believe Pkrcp wants to know if dealers have a standard way of counting chips... how dealers stack the chips while counting a large bet...

in NLHE, it's usually "correct" to put the chips in stacks of 20, that's how most of us think about them. For example, I know just from memorization that a stack of $25 chips is $500.
