First monthly freezeout

So I held my first monthly freezeout at my place this weekend, and I loved it. Only seven players but it was fun. I'm thinking of making it a $10 rebuy instead, unlimited rebuys at or below starting stack in the first two hours and an addon at that point. We played with 2000 to start (I'd make the rebuy 1000). I used a very slow blind structure (below) and the tournament lasted about four hours not including breaks. The slow blind structure definitely allowed the better players to come out ahead. I also had a global bounty in this tournament. It was interesting, but fairly ineffective... I think if I had 24 players it would be very cool.

Notable hands... KK vs KK vs AQs... AQ flops TP and takes out one of the KK's.

88 vs JJ, both flop a set. 88 predictably loses all his money. Crazy thing is, 88 was the KK from the earlier hand that didn't bust.

Here's the blind schedule I used. It ended halfway through 400/800:
Code:
# SB BB Ante Time
1	10	20	0	20
2	15	30	0	20
3	20	40	0	20
4	0	0	0	10
5	30	60	0	20
6	40	80	0	20
7	50	100	0	20
8	0	0	0	10
9	75	150	0	20
10	100	200	0	20
11	125	250	0	20
12	0	0	0	10
13	150	300	0	20
14	200	400	0	20
15	300	600	0	20
16	0	0	0	10
17	400	800	0	20
18	600	1200	0	20
19	800	1600	0	20

Cool sounds like it was a real good time. Did you color up at each of your breaks, or was it on an as needed basis??

colored up as needed, basically every two hours on the breaks.

Cool.

I am planning a big tourney--25 people-- in a couple of weeks. I was going to color up as needed, big pots in the middle level blinds can consolidate lower denom chips in one guys stack making it easier to color up that one guy! I am hoping that this theory works out!!

I've hosted a few tourneys now with a T2000 for $50 buyin. Unlimited rebuys for the first 3 rounds, but must be at or below T1000 to rebuy. Rebuys are $25 for T2000. We also allow an add-on after the 3rd round. $25 for T2000.

Our tourneys generally last 5-6 hours. Depends on the number of players. We generally have 14 - 24 guys show up.

Blind schedule as follows:

25 - 25 - all 30 Min rounds
25 - 50
50 - 100
75 - 150
100 - 200
200 - 400
300 - 600
500 - 1000
800 - 1600
1000 - 2000
2000 - 4000 (doubles up from here)

It gets pretty aggressive at the end, only if there has not been a lot of re-buys. So, the 14 man tourney that we ran last weekend, it seemed quite aggresive as far as blind structure at the end. But when we did the same structure for 22 people, the blinds weren't eating too many people up in the end.
