Chips: 1,513 | | | How to deal with this guy. (Long Post) Okay this guy always comes to my games and complains about the number of chips every body starts with. Needless to say he starts and some of the others join in, even though i think they are as clueless as he is. Anyways, I had been playing with 15 min blinds T800, and our games usually took 2-3 hours. Not to bad for me, but some weren't happy.
So let me back up some here: last month he starts complaining that it isnt the dollar amount of the chips, its just the number of the chips each person gets!! (Everybody would start with a stack of 45 chips) So I decide to change the chip structure and remove the lesser colors- now down to 4 chips(25, 50, 100, 250) and 1 to color up (500). And we start with T1500- 8x25, 6x50, 5x100, 2x250. So we play and he then starts to complain about the fact the blinds are two long with so much chip money in play (I do have to admit the blinds were a little soft, but not terrible.)
So now I am pissed, but don't say to much out loud because this guy is serious dead money; and if he didn't bring at least one other guy with him every time I would ask him to leave.
As a result I have decided on the following blind structure and want to know if this is agressive enough to make this guy realize that it was better the old way. If it is not, please offer suggestions to make it even more aggressive.
T1500- 8x25, 6x50, 5x100, 2x250
Ante Small Big
-- 25 50
-- 50 75
-- 75 100
25 100 150
25 150 200
25 250 500
50 500 750
50 750 1000
Last level applies until there are two players remaining.
We usually get 10-15 guys and have split the tables to 6 and 6 before when only 12 show then play down to only 6 left then combine. (I know that is another story for a different day!)
Any suggestions/thoughts are appreciated!! |

Chips: 7,798 | | | I don't understand why your big blinds aren't consistantly double your SB.
Here's what I use for T2000 1 table tourneys, 15 min rounds.
If you want aggressive with T1500, skip the 25-25 and 75-150 levels.
25-25
25-50
50-100
75-150
100-200
150-300
200-400
300-600
500-1000
1000-2000

Chips: 1,845 | | | Kind of weird, most people, myself included, prefer to have more chips to start with rather than fewer. Anyway, not really the issue. It is tough because you definitely don't want to scare away the dead money. The problem with going to a hugely aggressive blinds schedule is, you're going to make him less dead. Faster blinds take skill out of the game to a certain extent and start leaning things into crapshoot mode.
15 min. blinds is already flying for a live game. I can't imagine you get more than 3-4 hands in before the blinds go up at a full table.
Here's what I use for my T2500 20 min blinds game. Take, modify, use as you see fit, but I think it strikes a decent balance between allowing skill to have an effect without having the game take 6-7 hours.
25-25
25-50
50-75
50-100
75-150
100-200
200-400
300-600
500-1000
700-1400
1000-2000

You make a good point. I will take that into consideration. |

Chips: 71 | | Well if you goal is to have an over aggressive blind schedule and to prove a point to this guy, I think the one you mentioned will do the trick. With 15 min blinds your tournament won't last very long at all, which I imagine is the point.
I just hope this guy doesn't end up winning (unlikely as it may be) becuase then he will never shut up if you try and go to another system
People always seem to find a reason to complain about something, number of starting chips, Blinds Schedule, number of rebuys etc. I would prefer it if they would just shut up and let me take their money |

Chips: 175 | | | Nobody ever complains at my game about that kind of stuff. I guess I am lucky.
We do 8-man T10,000 tourneys. Blinds raise every 15 minutes and each game lasts 2-2.5 hours.
blinds are:
100/200
200/400
300/600
400/800
500/1000
etc.
So for a T2500 tourney, this would translate as...
25/50
50/100
75/150
100/200
125/250
etc.

I have always wanted to let him know about them, but ever since he started getting really lippy I haven't had the heart for it!! |

| Spaceman: Strange as this may sound I am with you on the larger stack! I like all those chips in front of me and I like adding to large stacks.
Also I should tell you that we actually get in at least 6 sometimes 7 or even 8 hands a level. I use two decks to keep it moving. And I am the only guy that usually ever thinks about his decision!! |

Chips: 1,861 | | | I wouldn't bother trying to prove a point, just run your game how you like. Tell him you'll help him set up another game if he likes, then he can have 100 chips with 5/10 starting blinds if he wants.
