Chips: 1,845 | | | The dreaded 11 handed game Looking for some thoughts from the forum for what you guys do when you end up with 11 players to start a tournament. My stance has always been that it's not fair to start out with tables of 6 & 5, so we start with all 11 together. It's cozy, but not terrible at my table. Anyway, I always have a couple of checkleheads that complain and don't want to start out with 11 at one table.
My feeling is that it's unfair to be at the 5 man table because you get hit by the blinds much faster. Plus, and maybe I'm making this up in my head, it just feels like there's a gear change that happens when a table goes from 6 to 5. I don't really want to have to start a tournament already in that 5 handed gear.
Thoughts? |

Chips: 7,798 | | If you have 11, you play at one table. I agree that splitting 11 up isn't a good idea.
Screw the chuckleheads, you're the host. Go with the 11 on one table. |

Chips: 1,555 | | I'd say go with 11 at the table - makes things tough but keeps play at the same level and fair for all. 1st person to go out deals the 2nd table with 5 players!! |

Chips: 310 | | | We have started with 11 per table several times. It is the best solution when you have either 11 or 22 players. Yes, we have a couple of grumblers, but they grumble about everything else. |

One thing that I apparently say quite a bit, because it's become at catch phrase at my game, "This isn't a democracy."

Eleven handed makes sense, and has been done in casino tournaments as well. |

Chips: 1,861 | | No offense, OP, but your stance of "not fair" is baseless. Either way is completely and absolutely fair as long as seating is random. It's your tournemant, do what you want. I would just do one table of 11, but not out of fairness, just to keep my workload down as people get eliminated. I believe I would use the sentence, "We're doing 11 because otherwise it'll be a pain in MY ass."
The blinds coming around faster in the 5 handed game gets offset because the 5 handed game gets more hands per blind level.
