Chips: 1,845 | | | This could get long, sorry in advance. What can I say, I'm a geek about my home game setup!
All right, we usually have 10-16 players. We've got a 16 game season and generally play 2 games a night. Most are T1500 with a $20 buy-in. $15 goes to the prize pool, the remaining $5 gets split into 2 other pools, the Headhunter Pool and the Best Hand Pool. Whoever knocks out the previous game's winner gets $15 from the Headhunter pool. If someone wins 2 in a row, they win the whole jackpot. It was over $100 last time. Best Hand is similar, best hand of the game wins $10. If it's Aces full or better, they win the whole jackpot. Any jackpot cash not won gets rolled into our final tournament prize pool.
We mix the games up as far as structure goes. A couple of limit events, some no rebuys, most are rebuy games, and then we have a couple of rebuy+add-on games to really generate some big pots. The season ending game is a T10,000 World Series. Oh yeah, midseason, we also mix it up with a 7CS, Omaha, or Pineapple event.
Once I get my Pharaoh's, I'll be going to a T2500 game just so I don't have to use reds. Blinds will work out roughly the same though. My guys really like rebuy events, so I think I should have some chances to bust out those nice plaques also.
We rarely play cash games. It's happened a couple of times, usually we play quarter/half NL with a $20 max buy. I like the cash games because you don't have to worry about sitting out 2-3 hours waiting on the next tourney to start once you bust out, but the way things are now, everyone wants to be just like on the TV. |

Spiff,
Since you run a 16 man T10,000 year end tournament, could you take a look at my thread and give some advice? TIA. http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=979

BTW, I like your best hand and bounty jackpots. I may start doing that myself. |

I basically took the WSOP blinds schedule and snipped out about every other level. I've got 30 minute levels and I'm shooting for about a 6 hour event. If it's like last time and I bust out around hour 3, I want those bastards out of my house as soon as possible!
Ante SB BB
- 25 50
- 50 100
25 100 200
50 200 400
75 300 600
100 500 1,000
200 800 1,600
400 1,200 2,400
500 2,000 4,000
1,000 3,000 6,000
1,000 5,000 10,000
2,000 8,000 16,000
4,000 12,000 24,000
5,000 20,000 40,000
If you're shooting for 10-12 hours, you could use this schedule and play 1 hour levels. Or stick a few levels in between and stick to your 45 minutes. Some intermediate levels might be good to help mellow things out, especially toward the end. With my group, I expect things to be all but done by the 5 hour point at 3K/6K. I'll be shocked if we get up to 8K/16K.
On my jackpots, they have been a lot of fun. It's tough to repeat anyway and then add in the fact that everyone else is gunning for you. Best hand is fun too, but one piece of advice there is to make a rule that both of your hole cards must play. I didn't do that, so we've had some weak quads and even a straight flush hit with just one card playing. That jackpot pays out about every other game, so it never gets real big. Playing both cards would make it harder.
Ack! Ramble, ramble. No one can accuse me of post padding! |

Chips: 183 | | | My group usually plays T10,000 NLHE tourneys. 6-10 players.
Everyone starts with 40 black $100's, 10 purple $500's, and 1 yellow $1,000.
Blinds are 100/200, 200/400, 300/600, 400/800, 500/1000, etc., increasing every 15 minutes.
We play two of those per night, total time is about 4 hours (2 hrs each).

Chips: 4,248 | | Well I do not know what the Txxxx stands for since I am a new poker player and am not well versed in the lingo just yet.
I hold a regular NL tournament game once a month, $10 buy-in with $10 re-buys allowed before the first colour up at the third blind level. The game usually lasts 3-4 hours and anywhere from 6-14 guys show up; we are mostly college students so participation depends a lot on our schedules.
We use a lot of info gained from homepokertourney.com; balancing table sizes, blind schedules, etc. and we throw a $10 bounty on the previous winner to try and encourage action, as well as get new winners since everyone likes to be the champ.
Currently we use two 500 composite sets, with about 750-800 chips in play to start. It seems to work pretty well and I post the chip colours and values on the wall so everyone knows what is what. I am looking forward to our August game though, I should have my ASM chips in by then and that will add a little more style and enjoyment to our games.
