oh wow..............

i saw probably one of the most amazing things that i have ever seen in poker...

me and a friend of mine were about 2 hours from home at a $50 buy in tourney and we both managed to make it to the final table... After about a hour at the final table it was down to me, my friend, and 2 other guys...

There hadn't been a flop in about 6 hands when I'm on the button and get dealt 85o and just toss it... little blind raises 3000 and my friend is in big blind... he goes all in with 17,000... little blind thinks for about 5 minutes (calls time) and finally calls him... (little blind was short stack and is on risk of being eliminated)... they flip cards...

Little Blind Guy:

My Friend:
4c

and time for the flop... my friend stands up and i hear him take a deep breath...

Little blind guy starts yelling and screaming and crap... my friend looks at me and just starts shaking his head...

Turn comes...

my friend looks at me and gives a lil smirk like "if i win this, its go time"... and as the river came everyone in there was in such shock... and as you probably guessed it...

the River...

that guy got up yelling and cursing and throwing **** around... my friend just sat down and laughed to himself... i mean i cant explain the silence that everyone had for about 5 seconds when that river was turned over...

I still cant get over that... every time i think about it, I just kinda sit there stunned like "wow i cant believe that actually happened"...

anyways the tournament finished with me in 3rd and my friend winning it and we walked out of there with $800 between us and split it...

anyone seen anything like this before...?

that is insane. ive seen people do that with backdoor straight draws, but thats about it. my best wow story is still the 3 quads in one night story from my home tourney post (A's, K's, and 7's)

Let me see if I remember how to do this.....

52 cards in a deck, after the flop... 7 cards known., 45 cards left, 2 cards help...(2/45) = .044444

On the river 44 cards left, 1 card can help (1/44) = .02272

.04444 * .02273 = .001010

Or more easily stated ((2/45)*(1/44))*100).

there you go.. I think the odds are .1010% of that happening

Or 1 in a 1000.

Or, according to Murphy's Law:
The probability of that happening to you when you're the A2 guy:
1.0

I don't have the math for it, but I thought a double runner was a 1:989 longshot.

And yeah, Murphy's Law. What can ya do.

Hmmm.... .1010%

100/.0101 = 990.

So there you go.... slight rounding error.

Sorry if I came across wrong, I didn't want to seem condescending. I just remember someone pointing it out on 2+2, thats all.
