Chips: 84 | | | We have a monthly tournament, and have gotten 27,27,27,25 at the first four this year out of a group of about 40 people.
We keep points standings and take a percentage of the pot for our year end tournament, where the top 10 are invited for a "free roll". |

Chips: 1,087 | | | I have an average of 16 people for cash games every tuesday. And cash is all we play.
But it a very low cash game: USD 20 per person.
Due to the number of people we use a friends composites. Yeah the 'yuck' dice ones.
We split in two tables. The remaining 4 of each table join for a last game.
It goes for like 3 hours and then the winner pays the first round for everyone after the game.
We have 6 girls who are regulars and like 15 guys who come and go. Players age varies from 25 to 39.
And all that in a country that has no poker culture: Brazil. We have 2 US citizens, 1 french and 1 indian playing regularly though. |

Chips: 237 | | We have a steady group of 8-9 of us who meet weekly. So, 9 is the most. The fewest we had was 5.
Sometimes we play for $20, and sometimes for $10, depending on how far from payday it is. The main thing here is making sure everyone feels comfortable playing as we're all good friends
Usually we also play another game afterwards for $5.

Chips: 5,848 | | | We run 2 standard games a month: 1 NLH Tourney and 1 Ring/Cash game.
The Tourney ($30 buyin) usually has been 14-20 folks.
The Ring game ($1/$2) usually has been 8-12 folks; had 9 last night and won about $90. |

Chips: 45 | | I started up a poker league for 2005. We play a $100 buy-in NLHE tournament each month (Jan-Nov.) and take 8% out of each prize pool that goes to a Championship Free-roll we'll play in December. The top 9 players in points will play for the free-roll money.
It's a pretty huge deal. We cap it at 36 players. We've been full every month so far. The last couple of times, we've had 2 side games going once it gets down to 2 tables in the tourney.
It's crazy.....my wife is good to me....she doesn't mind, plus, she plays in the tournaments.
Tourney # 4 is this Saturday.....Bounty-Hunter style (100 + 10 bounties.) I'm currently in 5th out of 45 players in the league.......I'm hoping to move up this month.
Good times...

GW | How do you award points? Is it based on finishing place, or number of chips won, people eliminated, etc. Thanks. |

GW’s Poker League
2005
Invitation only at this time......if you are receiving this email it is because you have been a regular attendee of my past tournaments. RSVP's will be welcome until Jan 12, when I will open it up to guests/other players.
Some of you have heard this idea, and some of you haven’t. Please read carefully, because there is a lot of information in this email.
I’ve been hosting a tournament about every month now. I decided to start something new for 2005. My idea is to have our tournaments set up as a league. This should encourage regular attendance by everyone, and will provide our own “Free-Roll” Championship at the end of the year.
Here is a basic outline:
We will play 11 tournaments this year (one each month, January through November.) Tournaments will be limited to the first 30 players who RSVP. All tournaments will be hosted at my house in Sarasota.
Buy-ins will vary between 80 and 100. Always for T3000, with blind structures starting at 10-20, and progressing in 30 minute intervals, as usual.
All tournaments will be held on SATURDAYS.
Tournaments will be played as usual, with payouts given to top 4 or 5 (based on attendance.) Points will be rewarded according to your finish (outlined below.)
8% of the prize pool will be allocated to a “Championship Prize Pool” that will be played for in the 12th month (December’s tournament) by the top 9 players according to the ‘leader-board’ from the year’s tournaments. These 9 players will play in a “Free-Roll” for this prize pool.
POINT SYSTEM:
We use a very simple point system. We take the number of players and flip flop the numbers. Then we award the top 9 finishers with bonus points for making the final table. This awards someone more points for beating more people. We do this so that if you have a week with 21 players the winner of that week doesn't get the same amount of points as the winner of a week with 25 players. You should get more points for beating more people. Here is an example with 22 players:
Finish --- Points ---- Final table Bonus ---- Total
1st 22 9 31
2nd 21 8 29
3rd 20 7 27
4th 19 6 25
5th 18 5 23
6th 17 4 21
7th 16 3 19
8th 15 2 17
9th 14 1 15
10th 13 0 13
11th 12 0 12
12th 11 0 11
13th 10 0 10
14th 9 0 9
15th 8 0 8
16th 7 0 7
17th 6 0 6
18th 5 0 5
19th 4 0 4
20th 3 0 3
21st 2 0 2
22nd 1 0 1
I believe this is a fair and simple point format. Everyone who attends gets points, and those who finish in the middle of the pack are not severely punished. It also provides a bonus for those who make the final table.
Payouts for our tournaments will be as follows:
Players 1-10 11-20 21-30
1st 44% 43% 36%
2nd 30 24 23
3rd 18 14 18
4th 9 10
5th 5
Champ. Pool 8 8 8
Total % 100% 100% 100%
Payouts for the “Championship Free-Roll” are as follows:
Finish Payout
1st 40%
2nd 22
3rd 11
4th 7
5th 6
6th 5
7th 4
8th 3
9th 2
PLAYER RANKINGS:
I will post a ‘Leader-Board’ at each tournament so you can track your rankings each month. Players will be listed according to their point total up to that tournament.
I will only be using first names, last initial. (Or a nickname if you prefer.)
Also, all prize totals, buy-ins, etc. will be listed numerically, with no monetary value, for ‘safety precautions.’
***IMPORTANT***
Please notice there is NO RAKE and NO FEE associated with these tournaments. I don’t believe in charging for my home games. I am NOT looking to be reimbursed for the use of my tables, chips, etc. I usually spend anywhere from $60-100 on food and drinks for these tournaments. If you want to tip any extra to offset these costs, it’s appreciated, but it isn’t necessary.
The prize pool for the Championship that is withheld from each tournament will be set aside and available for verification by anyone who may request it.
I hope this adds to the enjoyment of our tournaments and encourages a regular attendance by everyone!
Please email me if you have any suggestions or questions regarding this set-up. | | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
