thats interesting ten, the prize pool could end up being very similar between those 2 games. Almost a third less people, but 3x bigger buyin... it all evens out... i gotta see how many people i could get to buy in for different amounts....

How many spots do you pay with 40?

I also use evite. It is so much better than keeping track of emails.

We paid 6 (or was it 7?). Roughly 1 for every 6 people.

I've had a group of guys that have been playing poker together for the last 21 years now. Normally we have around 6 guys, probably never more than 7 come play the same night - the older we get the more busier we all are and harder to get a quarum together.

We play about once every 2 months, usually on a Saturday night and rotate who hosts that evening. The host provides some hot appetisers and the rest BYO drinks and snacks. Works out fairly well. We play for about 5 hours.

I have normally a small group 8-15 monthly.

I hosted a huge 100 + tourney in January here in MN and to say the least I wont be able to again ! I tried to keep it under raps because its not exactly legal the way I did it.(Basement of a local bar). Went off without a hitch had food, beer, and doorprizes. The problem became everyone knew about it. I got in a cab to go to the place we had it at a month later and he mentions my poker tourney!, had no idea who he was. We may need to change venues if I host another one!.

The coolest thing was the basement of this bar had like a band stage elevated with lights all around it. That was the featured and final table area which had a live video feed to a projection screen on the wall so everyone in the room could see the action at the featured/final table. There was at least 150 people watching the action on the final table. It was really something.

My advice. Be careful of the monster you can create by hosting large poker tourneys. 3 times a week I get a phone call "when is the next poker tourney?"

I took 4th. With that many people watching....me holding the nuts..... ops:

Finding the people is easy. But finding people who know what the hell there doing is hard. Nothing worse than getting sucked out on by someone who isn't exactly "bright" when it comes to there play. Plus, there's allways some drunk as$ running his mouth and spilling his beer.

god.... i wish i could get my home game to play $100 buy in tourneys and 1-2 NL... until then... im stuck with crappy .25-.50 blinds... and $15 tourneys...

i cant wait until another group ive played with has a tourney in the summer thats gonna be $100 buy in....
I play with a bunch of cheapo's and I'm lucky if we play a $10 buy in tourney. It's usually $5, although we get 3-4 tourneys in a night. I would LOVE to jack the price up a bit, as I usually tear these guys up :P Hopefully once I get my table (asap) and start hosting a regular bi-weekly game, we can agree to a higher buyin

we have 6 regulars, sometimes 7 people show up, and we do a $20 buy-in, with rebuys for the 1st hour. we've recently started playing a second game...usually fewer rebuys in that one...that works for us.

I usually have 10 guys at my monthly game, we usually play four or five mini tournaments at $10 each, but this Friday we're playing a $40 re-buy tourney that should last at least 5 hours with the blind structure... It should be interesting. I can always count on at least 8 guys to commit every time I announce one.
