A large group of us met on the internet and started playing at a central house in the group. It did not take long of playing with .02 chips on a hard table top with cheap paper cards before I stood up and grabbed the reins. I had been playing in TX for some time and was use to a rake so I convinced a tight group, kind of the founding members, to take charge and set some sort of leadership. I dished out 900.00 for supplies and we built 2 nice tables, purchased KEM cards, trays, chairs, etc.

Since then we have been taking 1 dollar from each buy-in 1 night a week and have had a return of 600.00 so far with us taking 5.00 out of the total of that night and using to buy 3 for 5.00 liter drinks at the local market. We have never talked about WHO will own the gear and once it is paid off I could care less. The nice thing is that when something is spilt, or ripped, or burned, or whatever, I have the peace of mind that the “players” are paying for it so it is no big deal.

NOTE: That 900.00, did not include chips. Once we got the nice playing surface I introduced my nice chips to the game. Unfortunately I have lost one red chip! Probably someone putting them in their pocket when moving tables and accidentally forgetting it. We do get a lot of friends of friends.

My ONLY worry is that we may get raided one day and loose MY CHIPS. Now that the rest in almost paid off it would not matter about it, we can rebuild it better than before. Faster, stronger, and for less!!!!

-William

My poker group use to have a mismash collection of all kinds of cheap plastic chips. We had probably up to 8 different collections of chips housed in 2-3 circular chip racks. After 20 years I said enough is enough - I'm buying a new set.

I replaced them all with a nice set of 680 NexGen's in a sturdy briefcase. I now own all of the equipment - so ya I'm invited to every poker night. The old set still exists but since the guys played with the new chips they don't seem to want to play with the old crap any more.

Well no one I play with really likes any of my chips, so some of them were forced to go buy their own stuff so they could use what they liked. Works for me.

I went as far as to devote an entire room to my game. I was sick and tired of hanging out at some half wits house where no one ws paying attention and the game would just drag on and on and on..... This way I've got a cool environment where the game experience can be more pleasureable for my self and those "I" decide to invite. You'd be amazed at how much better of a game you can have with the right equipment and the right setting

Hell, I've been offering to take my table/chips/cards to other houses but so far haven't gotten a bite. Bastards. I'm just sick of having it at my house every week.

Be careful what you ask for. I got tired of lugging my tables aroudn so I basically gave them to my friend who always asked me to bring them.

Once your friend see's them though they'll be pissed they didn't get them first. Nothing better than having better toy's than your friends.
