Game = .25/.25NL Holdem $5min/$25max
MIP = usually around $300
Dealer = DIY
Chips = Lucky Dragon ceramics
Perks = I supply chips and sodas, BYO everything else
Pros = Tons of action, haven't had to rebuy in 6 weeks
Cons = Trying to get everyone to use evite. 90% of new members I have to bring in. Slow growth in player base
Misc = I started this over 6 months ago as a .05/.10NL game and there is a ton more action at this level than previously. Totally opposite of what I expected
One Saturday a month
Game = T2000 Rebuy tourney, 20 min blinds starts at 25/50. Followed by dealers choice game. HORSE + pineapple .50/1FL or .25/.25 NL/PL
MIP = $5 buyin, $5 rebuy for T2000 for the first hour (anytime at or below T2000), $5 Addon for T3000. Prize pool was $100 with 7 players.
Dealer = DIY
Chips = Faux Clay for tourney, Lucky Dragon ceramics for cash
Perks = I supply chips and sodas, BYO everything else
Pros = Good change of pace. People are very receptive to learning the new games
Cons = Difficult to expand player base.
Misc = Once everyone learns all the horse variants I will consider running a big HORSE tourney at the end of the year |

Friday (Home game). During cold Norwegian winters, usually every friday, during summer, maybe once every 3 weeks
Game = Tournament league with 10 tourneys, 5 rebuys ($20 + $2) and 5 freeze outs ($40 + $4), usually 6-10 players
MIP = For rebuys, most players have one rebuy and one add-on and some need additional rebuys.
Dealer = DIY
Chips = Ritz, Freeze is T10.000, Rebuy is T5.000.
Perks = The "rake" is going into the league pot, the winner of the league gets 75%, 2nd place gets 25%, "free" booze (see cash-game).
Pros = All friends, social event, great atmosphere, at my place so no cab-fares
Cons = I suck at tournaments, cleaning up after it's done
Friday (Home game), after tournament
Game = ~NL$100
MIP = Most players buy in maximum, usually 2-3 rebuys on half the players so at the end of the night it's usually $1000+ in play
Dealer = DIY, considering buying a shuffler
Chips = PNY
Perks = "free" booze. since we ended up killing minimum half a bottle of whiskey every time, people have taken turns on bringing whiskey to the games, no rake
Pros = Same as with tourneys
Cons = Alot of talking so very few hands/hour
Most days, various illegal poker clubs
Game = usually starting at NL$400 up to nosebleed stakes (nosebleed clubs are exclusive), some mixed games too (PLO)
MIP = $3000 - $6000 and higher on NL$400 games
Dealer = Supplied by the club
Chips = Hotstamped Dice from pokersite (!) at the place I've been to
Perks = Some tourneys are sponsored with either added money or tickets to bigger tourneys, live or online
Pros = Great chairs, available every day, many LAG players who has problems adopting to nits like me, "cheap" beer (not supermarket cheap but still)
Cons = over-agressive players, all players knows poker, rake (5-10%), cash starts after tourney is done, many tourney-only players
I'm assuming MIP is the table total. |

Chips: 40 | | | Re: What are some of the games you play in? Tuesday night - once every 5 weeks - work colleagues all shift work
Game = .25/.50NL Holdem
MIP = usually around $600
Dealer = DIY (usually me)
Chips = Currently ASM hotstamped solid hourglass chip
Perks = Great social side - good friends
Pros = the beer flows, poor, loose players
Cons = after 3 hours and several dozen bottles of beer the game isn't so quick. I suspect stoned snails could play faster orbits.
Misc = Some players are beginning to put a bit of effort into thinking about the game, and tightening up which makes it tougher, but I enjoy it more.
Once a month
Game = T1500 or T5000 rebuys and add ons. $20 NLHE. 8 players normally
MIP = Usually approx $500
Dealer = DIY, usually split between myself and 2 others
Chips = Either Sahara Solids, ASM Rounders or the dreaded dice.
Perks = Some games are played in the boardroom of my friend's office on Princes Street in Edinburgh, overlooking Edinburgh castle. Even as a tourist-hardened local, it's stunning. Yes, I'll look for pictures.
Pros = Beer always available, some semi decent players, some awful
Cons = Every so often we play at one guy's house who has both dice chips and sometimes his wife invites her friends over also and everyone is in the same room. The poker doesn't get full attention. I'd prefer to not play at all and just socialise rather than have these half hearted games.
Misc = When the game's at my house the players always ask what new chips we'll be playing with. Unsurprisingly, I seldom disappoint. |

I've bumped out the Tuesday and Saturday games to add a new Wednesday 1-3.
Wednesday
Game = $1-$3 No limit
MIP = $ not a whole of of re-buys and many buy-ins for less than $200
Dealer = Supplied
Chips = Borrowed Argosy
Perks = Food Drink, and pre-game Rock Band
Pros = loaded with tourney players who are shoving preflop w/ AK
Cons = limited money on the table and the bust-outs leave after 1 buy.
Misc = This is the second week. They were using the WPT chips but I couldn't handle them so I'm loaning my Argosys to the game.

Game = .10/.25 or .25/.25 No Limit Hold'em or rotating NLHE/PLO
MIP = most people buy-in for $10 (or less..) me and the host buy in for $20 every time, rarely a re-buy
Dealer = DIY
Chips = Suited plastic chips
Cards = Modiano Poker Sized 4-Color
Perks = uhmm.. pretty much nothing special, free water?
Pros = Mostly younger kids who don't pay attention, and are hesitant to lose money. I almost never leave down.
Cons = Starts 7-8 handed at most, people rarely re-buy when busted, usually no more than $100 on the table at any given point, bad chips, bad chairs, bad table, hot in summer, cold in winter, the host WILL NOT let me bring nicer chips, insists on using his suited ones. It's also very unreliable, I'll either play twice in a span of a few days, or go over a month without playing.
Misc = Most of the time, a game of Euchre or Chinese Poker will break out afterwards, which is usually more fun than the ring game. |

A game with the college buddies
$20 Buy-In
1 Add On($10) at first break
Perks-Host has a hot girlfriend
Cons-Everyone there has an ego and a HU matchup could start as soon as two of the cocky players bust out
Saturday Night-Varied Limits Mix Cash Game(like once a month)
6-8 of us get together and play NLHE,PLO,LO8,NL Lowball,Razz,Stud8-You name it we play it
This is a very wild game with lots of action and some crazy side bets going on like 78 against AA things like that. In this game there is usually more money made on the side bets then in the game. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
