Plus its seems like he did pretty well regardless.

If you played super loose and stupid you might end up hitting a river on him and that would be a disappointing way to end the game for him. |

I have two young children. I play games with them all the time and since they were little. In games involving any amount of skill whatsoever I would obliterate them every time. Why would one do that to a child? DESTROY THEM! TEACH THEM A LESSON!
Come on. How bout, build their confidence. Encourage interaction with their parents (if I made my son eat leather every time he tried to shoot in basketball, we wouldn't play much basketball).
Anyway - I do agree with two things - 1. you are way ahead, so really I would just play and see what happens since losing there would almost be too obvious. 2. if he was a good kid and his dad was a nice guy and the chips were close, I would probably let him win also - given that money was not really an issue. |

It was still early (T5000 and we were only at 400/800 blinds). He had approx 3000 - 4000 so his M was very low. I would have had approx 10 times his stack. |

The first half-hour he does pretty well, but falls off big time after that. |

In poker, everyone is physically equal. The only thing that makes you different is your experiences and how you use what you have learned to your advantage.

This is a faulse statement.
Id rather play someone who is tired/drunk/hungry or a smoker who is worried about leaving the table to smoke. All of these things are physicall and CAN give you an advantage if you know how to use them against your opponent.

If he were say 7 or under, I might conseider letting him win for the sake of confidence, but at 13, if he's going to play alot of poker (presumably with his friends), you want him to develop the killer instinct, and have him learn that wins aren't just handed to you, you have to earn them.
