Hi guys, I just got to thinking the other day that I see ipods fairly frequently at poker tables, both home games and at the casinos. But I can't recall ever seeing one at the blackjack tables. Does anyone know if there are rules against that? I forgot to ask the last time I was out.
Many (if not most) casinos prohibit the use of electronic devices while sitting at the gaming table. Especially Blackjack. With modern technology in both computing and communications it would be very easy for someone to use a device for 'assistance' while playing. We run with margins so tight in Blackjack that any help more then general Basic Strategy assistance would give away our advantage.
We where on the extreme side, until recently we didn't even allow personal music devices in our poker room. You still can't use your phone at either a poker table or on a table game in our casino.
Every house will be different and we are more different then most, but it will be a rare exception where you would be allowed to use personal electronics at a Blackjack table.
I hope this helps.

I wish they would do away with the electronic shuffler too
I can't stand those machines - takes away the flow/feel of the game- not to mention I hontly can't remember booking a winning blackjack sesion since they became the defacto in Vegas. So much so that I haven't played any real blackjack sesions in at least 10 months or more.

Are you referring to the continuous shuffler, where the dealt cards are mixed back in after every hand or two? Every hand is like the first deal from a freshly shuffled multi-deck shoe. Ugh! Between those infernal machines and the trend to pay 6:5 on BJ, I avoid the game completely. That, and the fact that BJ is so boring compared to live poker.
