Double-Freeze-Outs: Who plays this structure?

How do your players like it?

How do you structure it?

Any advice on running one? I want to try it out Friday.

This is the thread where I first heard of this idea:

We played it tonight and it worked well~! It gives re-buyers the illusion of the re-buy and everyone gets to play the way they want to play.

Re: Double-Freeze-Outs: Who plays this structure?

Forgot to say, we did a T10000 and you could set aside T5000 in the beginning. We talked about taking as much as you want from your reserve at any time, but decided against it. You can't take any from your reserve until the end of the hand. We also offered a T4000 add-on after 6 rounds (1 hour).

One thing we did that I would change... we made everyone combine stacks after the add-on period. I would let them keep their partition the length of the game and I would also let the add-on to their reserve stacks.

What you should do when counting out stacks is to count out two identical stacks for each person and make sure those who set aside make it clear that they are doing so (we had plenty of room at the table so it was obvious what was set aside and what wasn't).

We called it a double-chance and it was a lot of fun! (good for satisfying freezeout AND rebuy fans)

Re: Double-Freeze-Outs: Who plays this structure?

Double chance sounds like fun. I would think making players use the second stack by the first break would be the way to go. Otherwise the game could take a lot longer than normal, but the groups I play with usually like to run 2 tournies a night (not to mention the cash game after them)

Re: Double-Freeze-Outs: Who plays this structure?

I think I'm going to try to this out tonight, if players agree. It sounds like a lot of fun. I'm very curious to see how this affects play and the length of the game.

Thanks everyone. I'll let you know how it goes if we end up doing it.
