Just got an email from someone who is asking to bring his 2-year-old son to the all-day Sat poker game at my apt. He says he only gets his son on weekends, and, if now, he'll try to see if he can get someone to watch him. How can I say yes, but how can I say no? You know?

Your game is not a daycare (depending on the people you invite ).
I have a 19 month old daughter, and would never think about bringing her to a game out of respect for the other players.

Agree with Sparky here... if this guy wants to spend time with his son, thats exactly what he should do... somewhere else.
On second thought, maybe this could be a good way to get the other players at my game on tilt.... It would probably be pretty hard to determine if I'm bluffing if there are two 10-month olds screaming in the background!!
Seriously, to me its pretty easy to say 'No'. Just tell him that your game is for adults only, and thanks for understanding. If he gets upset about it, that is his problem. You have your entire player-base to consider.
It sounds like he HAS to HAVE his son on the weekend (not GETS to see him). Seriously, that has got to be one of the most inconsiderate and stupid questions I have heard in a while.

Actually, subconsciously, you also know that your wife would KILL you! You can leave Maggie with me anytime you want to go to the casino.
The problem with letting someone bring their baby though is the distractions and the potential swearing, smoking and drinking. Not a good thing for a child at that age to see and hear.
I also think that it's a bit sad that this guy wants to bring his son though. What is the kid supposed to do while daddy is playing poker?
