Custom seat cards

UPDATE, 1/26/08--Group Buy interest thread started: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/group-...tml#post696884

I looked around here for anyone using seat cards for their tourneys, but I came up empty. So, I decided to go get some made here locally in San Diego. They're credit card size but slightly thinner and more bendable. Here are a couple pictures:

I provided the artwork to them at 12:15PM and had them in my hand at 4PM the same day.

While mine were custom for my own game, I could see a standard design becoming a group buy.

Comments?

Re: Custom seat cards

WOW, those are cool looking! Much fancier than playing cards turned over on the table to draw your seat or the "home made" cards you see below.

The one thing I like about my "home made" cards are the color codes that go with each table. In a large room with lots of people I have 8 1/2 x 11 laminated table numbers with matching colors on poles next to each table -- really helps people find their seats. So a couple suggestions:

1) Have the table seat numbers pre-printed
2) Offer maybe a different background color for each table

I would think even for one or two table home games you'd want the table and seat number on the cards...??? Of course then you'll need a couple generic (fill in the blanks) for when people walk off with them. Anyway, great idea -- I think your cards are well worth consideration of a group buy.

Re: Custom seat cards

Thanks, appreciate the comments. Can you toss some Pharaoh 1000s my way for the GB idea??

Since you have multiple colors for your seat cards, can't someone just pick the color they want, i.e., sit at a certain table of their choosing? Or are the colors just one side?

For seat numbers, the price goes up exponentially if I have different seat numbers on all the cards, so I'm going to use stickers to put the numbers on. This solves the problem of people walking off with the cards and makes all of them interchangeable (remove the sticker, put on a new one).

I only use these when I run big fund raiser tournaments -- 70+ people. In those cases 95% are prepaid and we randomly draw & assign table/seat pos. That way when they check it, we just hand them their card and off they go! But you are right, if it were a deal the players could just their own card then my system would not work.

Re: Custom seat cards

Interesting this post surfaces as I just bought a card laminator to make seat cards for a Super Bowl tourney we are having.

Nice! I was going to do that as my wife's borrowing her sister's laminating machine. Decided to go credit card instead. Either way, you can't go wrong.

For the last two years, I've been using Tournament Director to automatically assign seats. The cards definitely give a casino feel.

Re: Custom seat cards

I use 40 dram pill bottles to hold starting stacks. Your table and seat number is written on the inside of the cap.

I had been doing the same thing until the last tourney a couple of weeks ago when I tried seat cards for the first time. Our tourneys are up to 50 players and climbing. I felt the seat cards made my job a lot easier to assign seats and move people around.

Re: Custom seat cards

My first tourney for the 08 season is this Saturday, so this will be my first test of the cards. I'm looking forward to going this route instead of Tournament Director. Still use it for my tourney management (love it).
