Cool Hey! Careful, man, there's a beverage here!

The Dude abides.

But if you are looking to serve up something other than white russians here is another route to take:

Thermo-Electric Mini Keg Beer Dispenser - Stainless Steel by: Vinotemp

the beer out of mine has been coming out with a bit too much foam, and I have followed all the recommendations. I'm going to try another brand and see if that's the cause.

here's what I have loaded currently: Heineken Mini Keg
Not PC: Beer O’Clock – Heineken Mini-Keg
YouTube - Heineken Beer Draught Keg Commercial

You don't need the Vinotemp to pour a draft with these since they have a self contained CO2 cartridge, but the Vinotemp has an adapter so you can keep it enclosed, cooled and use the Vinotemp to pour.

I figure beer and poker go together like 'check raises' and 'tourists'.

Re: Hey! Careful, man, there's a beverage here!

Well the Vinotemp is going back.

I picked up the Icy Cold to replace it
Icy Cold Pro Series Commercial Beer Dispenser : Target

Pros:
comes with a 6 liter container, so you can have anything you want on tap
code 33% less than the vino temp
no CO2 cartridges to replace

Cons:
uses an air compressor for pressure (rather than CO2)
compressor is a little noisy but not to bad
probable a bunch that haven't come up yet since I just received it.

So I know there must be some chiptalkers that drink.
With the Icy Cold I can pour a few two liter bottles of soda for game name, if I have a teetotaler crowd, which might be handy.

I figure most have a BYOB policy, but for those who don't let's hear about it.

Damn I love that movie! Hey, nice marmot.

I built a kegerator, largely for the monthly poker game, but it's pretty slick having around even when we're not hosting a game. Hold three five-gallon kegs (about 120 pints). Here's a few pics (click on pic for larger images):

More pics of the process at kegerator. Nothing better then a fine draught beer.

Very nice.

I was thinking of getting a setup like that, but thought I better test the 'waters' with having the mini keg on tap first.

Love the dual taps, what do you usually have on draft for the game?
Are the kegs readily available and what brews can you get?

Thanks again, that put my in the mood for a whole yard.

Thanks. I bounce between what I brew and some of the local breweries (favorites being Snoqualmie, Boundary Bay, and Rogue). We always have an IPA on one tap, then the other is sort of our rotating tap--November and December we pick up one of the darker seasonals (this year we had Snoqualmie Avalanche--very tasty), warmer months we go with a hefeweizen or something along those lines, the cooler months we go with a porter. Some months I send out a poll with the evite and let the players decide.

I have mine set up so it's fairly easy to switch between corny kegs (home brew) and sankey kegs (commercial). The five gallon commercial kegs are fairly easy to track down around here as Washington has a lot of microbreweries. A few of them even fill the corny kegs, which is really handy and quite cheap--usually in the $35-$45 range for five gallons a beer.

It definitely adds a nice touch to the poker games. I also picked up two dozen beer glasses that fit in the standard cupholders on the table, which cuts way down on the recycling. Love it when drinking beer is earth friendly!
