Cash Game Advice. low limits...

Follow up to my previous cash game set thread: linky

Say your group has played $20 NLHE tourneys exclusively to this point.
(No rebuys) Sometimes we try to get in a second tourney if the first one burns out quick (before 1am).

What would you set up for a cash game afterwards in terms of limits, buyins, etc?

I am trying to craft/cobble a cash set together which will influence which cash game set to let go to M2M.

Currently have as options:

Cherries -260
Grand Casino $1's - 100
GC $2.50's - 60
GC $25's - 12

Vineyard $2's -190
Grand Casino Biloxi solids -600 in one color

I'll take a stab at this first to see if I am off base or not.
My guess is a cash game after the losers lose $20 on the tourney would be micro limits at best.
$5-$10? Who knows, maybe people will reload?
So using the 100bb guideline, we'd be looking at 5¢/10¢ NLHE? EDIT: using dimes as lowest, so 10¢/10¢ NLHE really.

$10 max buyin?
I could use the 600 GC Biloxi solids for dimes and then the gold cherries for 50¢ chips and the Vineyard $2's for the 'heavies'.
(The 600 dime chips match the bright salmon edgespot on the Vineyard $2...)

I would have a bank of $60 in dimes, $130 in fifties and $380 in $2's. heh.

(I could also flip the cherries and salmon solids so I have a deeper middle denom pool. )

30 dimes/10 fifties/a single $2

seems paltry. And a waste of all the $2's.
But at least there's 41 chips out there per person.

That brings up the realistic question of what my folks would do at such low levels.

Also can't figure out how to use the Grand Casino set.

chipscan of denoms used.

I washed out the salmon in photshop by accident. The dirty stack looks more like butterscotch layers with salmon and that nice lime green......

lunchtime anyone?

Re: Cash Game Advice. low limits...

Following our $20 tourneys (which generally have re-buys until the first break), we most often play 25¢/50¢ NLHE, max buy-in of $40. However, I understand your players might not enjoy that right away. You could start off with 10¢/10¢ ($10 max buy-in) or even 10¢/20¢ or 10¢/25¢ (with $20 max buy-in) if you want. My regular players often buy-in for half the max, then re-load to the max if they bust out... so don't expect everybody to be putting $20 into the 10¢/20¢ or 10¢/25¢ game.

Actually, we used to play $10 tourneys followed by 25¢/50¢ NLHE... and the tournaments seemed like a waste of time, since you could easily walk away up $100 in a night after losing the 3-4 hour tournament and playing just 1-2 hours in the cash game. Then again, these are VERY loose players we're talking about here.

40 dimes/30 twenty ¢ chips/ 20 fifty ¢ chips.....

nevermind, can't explain a 20¢ chip.

$20 buyin/ 30 dimes/30 fifty¢ chips/one $2 chip. 10¢/20¢ NLHE baby.
$15 buyin/30 dimes/20 fifties/one $2
$10 buyin/30 dimes/10 fifties/ one $2

Makes those lime green $2's special.... color up a stack of dimes for a $2.... yum.

Re: Cash Game Advice. low limits...

My group usuallys plays two tourneys a night, each for twenty dollars in most cases depending on which guys show up. We have one regular that always tries to get us to up the ante to fifty dollar tourneys but some of the guys get a little hesitant about that. Well after we finish the tourneys we usually go for a cash game with the guys that are left (the hardcore of the gamblers). We usually end up with something like a 2/4 limit game or a 1/2 no limit game. For these games we end up using soley one and five dollar chips.

Re: Cash Game Advice. low limits...

I have successfully played .10/.20 blinds with $20 buy-ins, so using your .10-.50-2.00 chip scheme would be fine.

But I really like the way the salmon Biloxi chips look with the matching spot on the $2 chip. I am tempted to say just go for a .25/.25 blinds with $30 buy-in, or .25/.50 blinds with a $50 buy-in. Then get lots of those salmon chips out there in play as quarters.

40 x 0.25 salmon + 10 x 2.00 green = $30 (50 chips)

Also, it probably wouldn't be too strange to just call the salmon a 20c chip, and then the green would be 10 times that. For .20/.40 blinds.

50 x 0.20 salmon + 10 x 2.00 green = $30 (60 chips)

I usually favor 3 chip colors for ease of counting all-ins, but you have so many of the salmon Biloxi's that it seems a shame to waste them. This would be a great looking salmon-green table.

Re: Cash Game Advice. low limits...

We ususally do a .25/.25 NL game with a 10-20 buy in, or a .25/.50 game with a 20-40 buy in.

I really don't think 100xBB is necessary unless you're playing to make money. For home games, it's more about fun right? Plus most people have $20 bills...

i LIKE it.
i LIKE it a LOT.

So either a twenty¢ chip or a quarter chip...... which may mean I don't need the gold cherries.......

but i like them too much..

Re: Cash Game Advice. low limits...

I sold off my cash chips, so this thread is moot. To me, at least.
And I have not played a tournament at home since January.

Maybe I'm not supposed to have chips.......

Re: Cash Game Advice. low limits...

I have a 15-30 cent blind no-limit cash game with a $30 max buy-in. It works very well. You could use $5 chips for nickels, $25 chips for quarters, $100 chips for $1's and $500 chips for $5's. This way you might not need to buy more chips.
