Chips: 5,121 | | | When should I arrive in Vegas for the SCS? Meh, I don't know if this is in the right forum, but if the mods need to move it, feel free to take some of my chips. I got too many and no plans for 'em.
So.... I am going to be in Cali for a bachelorette party from the 3-5th. My husband is flying in from the Great White North to Vegas for the SCS on Friday the 9th. I'm just going to fly from Cali to Vegas directly. My question is, when should I arrive in Vegas?
Here's the deal, yo. We plan on staying with friends in Henderson. I am working in the lab right now in California, and there is a 50/50 chance I will have work to do in August. Soooo... either I will be bored with nothing to do between the 5th-9th, or be busy working, and freaking a little, because GODDAMMIT I SHOULD BE DONE WORK BY NOW (hard to predict, at this point). But, have no "real" obligation to work - only personal frustration that I still have crap left to do. So, I can go to Vegas early, or hang out here in Cali, where I have plenty of friends... who also have jobs during the week.
I am thinking that maybe I should just go to Vegas early, and play poker and have a good time. I may or may not stay with friends, or stay in a hotel (not very worried about the $$). But, I don't want to be bored as hell on a Wednesday in the City of Sin. That just seems wrong. So, I want to know (1) What would you do? (2) Will you be there, and willing to party with me? It seems to me that too many days in Vegas could almost be worse than not enough, and I'm loooking to you all to convince me that I can have fun as a single woman in Vegas on a weeknight. What say yee?

Single meant "by myself".

There is a lot to do in LV but it can get stale after awhile (I know blasphemy). I say split the difference and go a little early - that way you get extra vegas time without the burnout before the SCS starts
Just my $.02

I know, it's creative editing. There is plenty for you to do out there for a couple days while you're waiting for your husband to arrive. Even if you don't want to play cards or gamble otherwise.
Maybe you should use some of that extra time to treat yourself to a nice all-day spa visit (there are so many to choose from out there, you can't go wrong. Well, okay, you could go wrong and go to Luxor's spa. Don't do that!). Maybe check out Spa Mandalay or The Bathhouse (at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay), or Caesars has a new one that snows; there's Canyon Ranch at Venetian... (can you tell I'd like a spa visit?)
I'm telling you what you already know, I'm sure, but there are so many attractions, tons of shopping and just general things to do out there, that I can't imagine how you'd be bored. And I'm pretty sure there are a few people arriving a couple days before SCS that you could meet up with. (Unfortunately, HQ and I don't get in until Saturday night, or we'd gladly meet up with you.)
So, in summary, go ahead and get there a few days early and have a couple 'Luckychick days'. That's my vote.
P.S. I'm jealous. |

Post about it afterwards, talking about how you've found something else besides chips to spend money on. Make me insanely jealous that I haven't had the chance to go yet. |

You get to eat whenever/wherever you want. You can do almost anything you want! It's crazy liberating out there.
Unfortunately, We won't be there, but we would welcome you with us for sure! Don't forget. There is a the CC>CC chip convention previous!

P.S. I'm jealous. | Oh, BW - thanks for all the spa advice! That was something that was on my to do list. I have been to the Spa at Bally's (which was surprisingly impressive) and at Paris (which I wouldn't really recommend - not awful, but not very impressive either). I was toying with going to the Spa at Green Valley Ranch - I've heard good things and it is very close to where our friends live. I'll definitely check out the ones you listed as well!
I'm toying with leaving Wednesday afternoon, and spending a couple of leisurely days based on everyone's reply. I was just sort of worried that about being "overloaded" and going too long.
If anyone else has suggestions on what to do all by myself, I'd be happy to hear them!
