How many blinds do the tournies you usually play in start with.
Just curious.
The one tourney I try to play in (which isn't often), is 250bb (2500 w/ 5-10). |

We mix up the starting stacks depending on the number of players. Two of the most commonly used are:
8 x T25
13 x T100
5 x T500
1 x T1000
-or-
8 x T25
8 x T100
4 x T500
2 x T1000 |

12 - T25
12 - T100
7 - T500
Otherwise the 8/8/4/2 setup as links_slayer has. |

We alternate amongst three different styles of tournaments. The blind progression is the same for each, but the starting stack sizes and length of rounds varies.
With starting blinds of 25/50, we have-
1) T5000 (100x)- 15 min blinds for 2.5 hours, 10 mins after that
2) T7500 (150x)- 15 min blinds for 4 hours, 10 mins after that
3) T10000 (200x)- 30 min blinds for first 5 hours, 20 mins for 2 hours, 10 mins after that
So, the pace of the tourney is controlled not only by the ratio of chips to blinds, but also the blind structure (levels and duration).
For after the main tourney, sometimes we play faster tourneys with T5000 and 10 min blind levels or T3000-T3500 with 15 min blind levels. |
