Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if it is just me or is the excitement for home games seem to be fading. In the past, when I get together with family and friends the talk of poker would come up and we'd get together for a few hands. No big stakes, but good enough. Lately, the interest seem to have faded. The emphasis when getting together isn't related to poker anymore. Has anyone else experienced this? I guess those who have regularly scheduled home games, how's the attendance, lately?

attendance always drops in the summer, people doing the family thing and all. It will pick back up in the fall.

I've been having record attendance at my games but am sure it will level or drop a bit since summer is here. It's OK though, I could use a break myself.

I guess that makes sense, I do recall during the winter time it was the indoor thing to do. Ok then, I guess I'll still pack the chip when I go to gathering/parties. Last couple times we either didn't play at all or there was a low attendance.

The guys usually want to play more frequently at my place but I always tell them we're only gonna have it once a month. Keeps everybody excited and I maintain a waiting list. So people who actually want to play have increased. Sometimes less is more.

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing a dip in attendance. This week we only had 5 players show up. I was kinda bummed because I LOVE playing tourneys with these guys, but I must admit that a 5 hour $0.25/$0.50 NL session was a friggin' blast. After last night I'm seriously considering gradually switching to a weekly cash game and bi-weekly (or even monthly) tourneys. We'll see....

Must be nice to have summer year round. I think that's why attendance at my game is low...guys have been cooped up all winter and have a bit of cabin fever.

Our weekly game is pretty study at 7-8 guys playing .5/1. I think the nature of the cash game keeps interest...sometimes tourneys are such a grind. Plus if you only get 4-5 guys you can play dealer choice to keep it interesting.

I held my home game for almost 3 years straight, and we now haven't played in the past 3-4 months due to conflicting schedules.

We had about 6-7 regulars for the 3 years, but couldn't find a good night between some with work and some with college...I hope it starts up soon again, I miss it.
