Chips: 109 | | | Re: What Would You Do??? Phil Gordon, in his Little Green Book, offers an interesting take on chopping in a situation like this (heads up). Both players get second place money and the remainder would be divided according to chipstacks.
In your case, each player gets $130 as a base chop. You're chopping at 50 to 35, so you'd come in at $56 of the $80, he'd get $24.
Obviously if you're the chip leader and you have to propose the chop, you might not be able to get such terms. Chops like this work better when it's the underdog that floats the deal. I doubt your lead was enough to make him take a deal other than an even chop, especially if he knew you were under a deadline to get dad's car back in the driveway. |

Why did your dad need his car at 11:30 anyway? |

300lbchinaman = No chop
It's only 40 either way. Besides, the way I play, this thing is going to be figured out very quickly.

Taking the chop for $170 sounds fine. |

If I'm chipleader, I'm laughing at any offer that only gets me $14 more (4%) than 2nd place...PLAY ON I SAY!!
If it was late and the other player was tired or just ready to stop playing, I would counter offer $20 more than the 2nd place prize. |

Chips: 8,286 | | | Re: What Would You Do??? Firstly - There is no way the chipstacks are correct.
A T7000 with 19 players, puts a total of 133,000 in play.
Secondly - the blinds total T30,000 each hand - that is like 23% of the toal chips in play.
So - a chop is a good idea. This is crapshoot central at this point. Try to get a good deal, but unless your chip lead is huge, I doubt you'll get it. I don't see how this isn't an all-in in the next couple of hands...... |

Chips: 530 | | | Re: What Would You Do??? With blinds that high, I'd say chop it. Usually at the end of tournaments, if the blinds are that high, it's just a luckfest. Your chiplead can disappear in one unlucky hand, and then you're stuck with less money.
Just propose a by-the-chips chop with the total money left in the pot. |
