Chips: 1,818 | | | home poker tourny network? coders not that i have the time to write it... var? I am already working it.
i am thinking a central MySQL server hosting multiple tables with the ability to track time and maybe players via php and javascript. i've ajax'd hachks tab view - checks the home server with a tab over. I just finished an activex control for videoconferencing of my chips.
point is, my target devices... 3 tablets all dual boot. Q1 samsung UMPC. crackberrys.....
i havent worked alot with RSS, but me thinks you can render it correctly to hand helds in the hood. that would be sweet... check your cell for the blinds/levels.
i've got 75% of this already in place... i need feature advice....
anyone else running a home server to track action?

Are you trying to get extra use out of the medical tablet PCs you designed? Market them to a new market, perhaps.
I thought I'd bring back the ORANGE text for one post, since its your thread and you can't neg me now. |

Chips: 1,925 | | | Re: home poker tourny network? coders I'm a software engineer by day, and I was very excited to first see the PokerPro machines in Melbourne when they were demo'd at the Aussie Poker Millions event in 2005. The machines were pretty rough around the edges but they worked. Last week I played on them again at Crown Casino - they now have 10 tables running around the clock - and people are loving them!
And now it looks like Pokermatic is going to up the ante with better graphics and more attention to detail - looks a lot better already.
These things are going to be MASSIVE, I think I'll buy some PokerPro shares - or maybe Aristocrat who now owns 25% of them...
My wishlist for these things:
Imagine this variation: A single-table sit & go with 9 seats around a sexy round table. On the table you have your 9 touch-screen tablets and a single, large, circular display in the middle. Perhaps a projection monitor mounted on the ceiling or something. In a casino setting the sit & go will start as soon as 9 players sit down and pay their entry fee.
The game is speed poker - 90 second time-bank for the whole game and with 10 seconds otherwise.
Each station is configured with several cameras pointed at your face catching the action - these are used for automatic replay of the action at the table. When a big pot goes down the main server will queue it up and play it in the waiting area / lounge / bar on a big screen to everyone to see. Automated commentary of some sort (Think modern Keno systems, but more betterer) to entertain those on the rail.
Eventually I'm sure we'll see full-table sized multi-touch LCD tables.

I've hacked my PSP to accept homebrew and I've got some basic client server application functions. I figured since the PSP supports wireless it might make a nice multiuser poker handheld device. |

who would go to a casino to play poker on a screen? no chips! | Actually its not like online poker at all. It is live poker - you get to see the other players' reactions to the board, you get to see them re-checking their cards when 3 diamonds flops, and you get to talk to them and laugh with them and see them steam when a bad beat hits.
You're playing live poker, just without a dealer. You can even count out chips while you're thinking to gauge the reaction on your opponent!
The pros for players:
- Lower rake cause you don't have to pay a dealer
- Faster action - more hands per hour
- No waitlist! Just sit down and play.
These things are the future. In the early days EVERYONE said 'Ah it will never catch on' and 'If I go to a casino I want to play on a real table with a dealer' but these machines fill an important gap in casino poker. I'm convinced that In 5 years every casino with a poker room will have these to augment their traditional tables. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
