For those of you that have higher end (i.e. more expensive) chips as well as lower end (i.e. less expensive) chips, WHEN AND WHY do you use the lower end chips?

I have got a tournament set of Fauxs (which I bought as a "travel set") which I've yet to put into play and a cash set of Sopranos (which I also bought as a "travel set") on the way. Problem is that I never travel with them. I mean, I basically have the chips, "just to have them" (and we all know there's nothing wrong with that ).

There's a part of me that wants to use the lower end chips in the regular home game that I host (cause I do like them and also for the sake of actually using them), but another part of me that says, "You're going to use Fauxs over your TRKs? Are you serious?"

I say use 'em whever you want a change of pace. Sometimes when only 3 or 4 guys show up for our weekly game, I bust out the old Bicycle poker chips. Why? We're not playing for any world championships, bracelets or anything. We just like to get together, play some cards and have fun. What else do you need?

I do the same thing with my golf clubs. Every now and then I'll bust out my very first putter. It's a generic "mini-golf style" putter. It's got horrible feel, my touch is terrible with it but it has sentimental value to me. It's nowhere near the quality of my Odyssey White Steel putter, but I still use it. I'm not even sure if this is an appropriate comparison but it's the best I could come up with.
