Circus poker

Seems every time I have the relatives over to play some poker it turns into a circus!
How would you settle the following senario?
Clown A- five minutes into the game (tournament with no rebuys) goes all in on a set of nines after the river card is down.
Clown B-(his turn to act) is mulling over his cards, he sits a long time and does nothing meanwhile,
Clown C- doesn't wait his turn, calls the all-in bet and promptly turns his cards.
I yell wait and cover his hole cards with my hand while waiting for Clown B to make a decision.
Possibly having seen the cards Clown B folds his hand. I uncover Clown C's hole cards -he also has a set of nines but with a higher kicker than Clown A.
Clown A starts to rant and rave saying the hand should be Burnt and the pot should be divide up because Clown B was discouraged from playing further as he saw Clown C's cards.
Should Clown C be awarded the pot even though he exposed his hand or should his hand be ruled dead and in which case should the pot be awarded to Clown A as Clown B had susequently folded his hand? Finally would you continue to play poker with these sideshow people or just take up juggling?!?!?

Re: Circus poker

LOL - sounds exactly like one of my home games - no matter how much I mess with the blinds someone is out in the first level. Loads of people act out of turn (I seem to be a culprit of this, mainly because most people aren't paying attention and I think they have folded). Then when we get down to the money everyone tries to force the players to finish quickly.

LOL - home games, at least we here in the UK just treat it as a chance to have a load of beers with the mates - can't imagine the fights if they toojk it dead seriously!

Re: Circus poker

I figure there were 2 nines on the board. He doesn't say that, but its the only way it could happen.

I got pocket queens I go all in my dad says call faster than anything so I figure he has Aces or Kings right ? Nope ! J5 off suit. yes that's right Motown !!!

I'm laughing, but not for long as he flops 2 pair ...

Oh well that's what you get with a $5 buy in LOL !!!!

Clown D chimes in to say, "You didn't have a set, you had trips!"

Re: Circus poker

Printing out the TDA rules and putting them into a 3-ring binder sheet protector goes a long way to resolving these issues. Toss it out onto the table before the game starts so everyone has a chance to see the rules (which will probably be left untouched/unread, but it's important that they were there if people wanted to see them).

This particular issue (what happens with a prematurely exposed hand) is explicitly covered in the TDA rules. It's not a dead hand.

Tell the clowns "we are using the TDA rules, the rules of the WSOP and the WPT" and watch them all nod their heads like they know what that means. Then use the rules.

You should print out Robert's too, but those are unfortunately quite long. I'd have a printed set ready anyway.

Some people will tease you about being a poker nazi, but really, having definitive rules makes a FRIENDLY game much more FRIENDLY!

Re: Circus poker

Makes you think twice about bringing out that $300+ chip set to play with such a crowd huh? Maybe having a cheaper set of chips isn't such a bad idea after all...
