Home Game Food
I'm very curious how you guys handle food at your home games/tourneys. Everyone at my tourney brings their own beer and they all bring some sort of food: chips, pretzels, salsa, deli meat, bread, fixins, etc. They tell me it's the least they can do since I host every week. In fact, it's like they won't let me put any kind of food at all on the bar. Anyway, just curious how you guys do it.

Re: Home Game Food
If people want stuff, they bring it. It's never even really come up, and it doesn't happen much. One friend of mine has diabetes so he has juiceboxes and various snacks for himself, but the rest of us don't eat or drink while playing. Normally after the game we go to Taco Bell or something.

Re: Home Game Food
Hi:
I buy drinks, sodas, snacks and I take the money out of each pot (10 for each 100 in the pot). If everybody agree in ordering something for dinner I,ll take it out from the pot too.

Re: Home Game Food
Our home game rotates and it always includes food. Sometimes snacks, sometimes full meals. Most folks bring beverages, chips, cookies, etc. to share with the host too.

Re: Home Game Food
It's a BYO arrangement.
In general, I prefer the snacks to be non-greasy, non-coated, and non-on-the-table. Keeps everything as nice as possible. Accidents still happen though. I'm pretty sure every time I have broken out any new equipment, whether it be chips, cards, or table, someone will baptise it or get foodstuffs all over it. I'm not anal-retentive, so I just roll with it. Whatever can be cleaned reasonably easy will be but I don't agonize over a beer stain on the table.
I do order pizza to show up around the first break. You have never seen large pizzas disappear so fast. In the second break, there's usually a line for the restroom - you do the math...

Re: Home Game Food
At my game it usually starts with everyone bringing their own drinks. As the night gets late ppl get hungry and I have no problem supplying food. But as I go to get food I always think to myself whats chip friendly? Nothing too greasy or wet. Sometimes we order pizza or whatever but I always think of the chips first

Re: Home Game Food
We have a league system going. Venue changes from week to week. The host supplies food, usually pizza for the lazy ones, or bbq snags and rolls, and a modest amount of snacks and soft drink (aka soda). BYO alcohol, although only a few of us drink, and we usually don't mind other generous souls contra raiding the bar. People usually bring chips and soda as well. It works quite well. The rule is we eat, and then we play. I supply the cards and chips and don't like greasy fingers all over them.
For cash games I usually host. Sometimes I put on a bbq, otherwise I make it BYO. I don't mind paying for the food, I am one of those people that like to be a good host. Some others are as well, some go overboard with top shelf beer and great food, some are tight (when it comes to forking out for food anyway). Doesn't worry me though. I usually find the non generous ones end up losing their chips.
