Chips: 427 | | | Who do you play poker with? I was just pm'ing a CTer, telling him one of the "celebrities" at my home game, and it got me thinking of the crazy crew of regulars at my game. I thought I'd start a thread for folks to say who are the most interesting players at their game.
I'll start:
At my game we have one of the authors in the Star Wars spin-off novel series, one of the racing sausages from the Milwaukee Brewers sausage races, and a master brewer.
If you don't have a master brewer at your game, I'm sorry for you!

Chips: 307 | | | Re: Who do you play poker with? Well we have no one remotely famous so far. He definitely have some characters. One guy I've known forever. I guess you can call him a bit of a boozer. He'll show up with at least 12 Milwaukee's Best Ice. I have no idea why someone not in high school or college would be drinking that beer. I had to sit next to him one night and he had the shakes. I'm not kidding. I couldn't stand it. He also can't deal at times because he's too drunk when we pass the deal. We instituted the 'Andy Rule' because of him. You get one courtesy misdeal. Any other misdeal results in you pay the sb and bb and your hand is dead.
We also have a guy that says he can read everyone at the table perfectly. He says he has tells on us all. Funny thing is that he never wins. I love guys like that.
My brother-in-law is a bit of a character. He's a Vietman vet and pretty funny. Anytime you say 'Nice pot' though he wants to fire one up.
One of my best friends who comes in occasionaly is an action junky. He's guaranteed to make a play at you at some point with something ridiculous. He loves the rebuy tourneys. He's rolling in tonight with plenty of beer. He always sleeps in the basement after the game. My wife laughs because she'll hear him snoring extremely loud at some point.
I have another friend who wears shorts year round. That would be cool if we didn't live in Ohio. He's one warped fellow.
Thinking of this makes me lol. I'm looking forward to tonight now. |

I hope this still qualifies, but a guy who HAS played, but not for a long time, was at one time Mr. North America as well as many, many other titles. All American wrestler etc. He and Arnold are about the same age and were at the top of their game together. When Arnold got married, my buddy went to the bachelor party of course and only because I'm a long time and trusted friend did my friend open the safe one night and let me see the pictures -- OH BABY! I've heard some stories, none of which I'll ever share (guy code, sorry Bee) about, well, ah, never mind. Next most famous is my next door neighbor, lead singer of "Angry Young Men" -- ya might have to search to find them but HEY, he's still a rock star to the people that come watch his band play! |

One game two years ago I played with "Blitz" "Squatch" from the Seattle Sonics and the Mariner Moose (if you can't figure out what team he was from... well I can't help you). But that is the most celebrity we have ever had at our table. |
