Chips: 12 | | | Cash Game Blinds Looking at starting a cash game and was wondering what you guys typically give for chip denoms and set the blinds at. Will be a cash nl with a min of $500 buy in. What would you guys set the max buy in at and how would you regulate players who bought back in, as far as amount?
Also have had desire from several people to start a weekly $100 min buy in NL game as well. Same questions?? |

Also have had desire from several people to start a weekly $100 min buy in NL game as well. Same questions?? | Although I don't quite play at those stakes, I generally have the max buyin be double the min buyin. I think that is a pretty easy rule of thumb that everyone seems to be fine with. Also I have the big blind 1/100th of the min. buyin. I always give the busted player the oppotunity to rebuy at half the initial buyin up to the standard 2x the min buyin max.
So in your case for the big game I would have the min buyin be $500 and the max $1000, with the blinds being $2 and $5. If someone goes bust they can buy back for anything from $250 to $1000.
For your smaller game, min buyin $100 and max $200 with the blinds being $.50 and $1.00. If someone goes bust rebuy from anywhere between $50 and $200.
It is pretty standard and easy to remember. Let us know what you finally decide on.

Chips: 12 | | | Re: Cash Game Blinds Thats about what I was thinking too... Prob. on the 100 game I'll go w/ 1/2 blinds as I don't have a 50 denom chip.... How many chips of each denom should I give everyone to start out??? Do I give them a lot of 1's and 5's,,,, or just a few and give them more 25's... I also have 100 and 500 denom chips... WIll give 100's out for anything over 500 I think.. What are your guys' opinion on chip denoms for these amounts?? |

Chips: 3,424 | | | Re: Cash Game Blinds $500 min buy in is my regular game that I host. I run it with $5/10 blinds. Most people buy in for about a dime, and if / as needed play cash behind.
If I do a smaller game, it's typically $2/3 or $2/5 with a $100 min buyin. Most come into that for $200 to $500 to get started.
I don't cap my buy ins, and people buy in with pretty much what the table is coming in with, which is usually around 150 to 200 BB's. No one tries to run over the table with a bought stack. Although there have been a few nights where people sat down with 500 BB's.
Most common, $5's and $25's are the only chips in play, unless someone asks to color up to some blacks, which isn't always uncommon.
In the $5/10 game, $1's are also common on the table for the dealer.
If we are playing $2/3 NL or $2/5 NL, I'll give each player 20 or so at the start of the night just to get enough on the table to keep change on hand. There is rarely a pot where everyone limps in for 3, so there aren't a lot of them on the table when the game is going. (maybe 200). My preference is to start everyone with 5's and make change if and as needed on the table for their blinds, so I'll give the dealer a few stacks of $1's for change. |
