I had a remarkably successful debut of "The Reeder Cup Matches" this weekend - - a Heads Up No Limit Hold'em Tournament featuring 16 players with both pool play and a single elimination bracket.
Each player got 3 matches in pool play (4 pools of 4 players) and the top 2 advanced to bracket play. After about 8 hours of grueling action, my twin brother (a good looking bloke) ended up the winner and captured 60% of the prize pool ($35 buy in).
This picture shows Jason with the winning hand (Queens full) but also with The Reeder Cup, The Inagural Reeder Cup Champion custom coaster from ABC, a Pool Winner award from the Inagural Reeder Cup, my custom ASM "The Empire Club" chips in their maiden tourney, and both of the tables I've built (using custom, dye-subbed cloths from Lone Star):
If you haven't tried a heads up tourney, I highly recommend it. A long day of poker but a ton of fun and very rewarding to our players. I'll post details if anyone is interested, including my "what I've learned" tips so that you can avoid some of the problems we encountered along the way.
