Chips: 106 | | | Home game hosts, who is dealing in your room?? Hello all. I am fairly new around here and wanted to bring up a question regaurding dealing/dealers. I have been hosting a weekly .25/.50NL game for almost two years. I for the most part have been doing all of the dealing. I really havnt minded too much, untill recently. When we started this weekly game we had about 5 to 6 regulars, and the flow of the game remained steady, so it was no problem. Since about march, there have been 10 at the table all night. Dealing to this group all night is exhausting. Not to mention I find it difficult to play properly when Im dealing to this many.
Anyway, we have tried force deal, but with 10 guys at an oval table, more cards get delt face up than down. Ive had a few breaks with other regular players helping out and trading deals back an fourth. I dont want limit the number of players. Our game is getting ready to go to .50/1 blinds in a short while, and I was actually thinking of hiring a full time dealer. Has anyone tried this? This seem extream to me but Im not sure what else to do. Im sure I could find some one for .75 to 1 per hr per player or something like that. Thanks for any help you all can provide! |

That said, my unemployed ass would do it in a heartbeat for that if the players would actually tip too.

There's to many for you to do it all the time and play. Two decks. SB shuffels one deck. You deal the other and don't for get a cut card. The other option is have someone deal and not play. |

I have the small blind or someone else shuffle to speed things up. It means some less randomness in the seating as the two dealer seats are myself and someone else who is semi-competent at dealing. However it speeds things up, especially when we are playing a tournament. |

I feel sorry for you having to deal all night. The closest we come is when some busts out they deal if they want, just to feel they are still in the game |

Diablo, looks like thats the best plan, I assume the small blind fee would be into the next pot? That would seem fair to me. |

It seems like I have to referee the dealer when we have tried the force deal thing. Frustrating!! |

Of course the other players can tip the dealer, but there can't be any kind of rake or fee to cover the costs of having a permanent dealer. |

Also (and this really helps the flow of the game), after done dealing you have to shuffle the cards for the next guy (we use two decks, so while one is in use the other is being shuffled).
Never has there been a complaint, this is just "how it is". |

If you can swing it and your players go for the idea of tipping then it'll make the game better for everyone, especially you. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
