NLHE Tournament with Bounty

I want to host a NLHE tournament with bounty for the first time. If the buy-in is $10 and I allow rebuys ($10), what would be an appropriate amount for the bounty for each player? Is $5/player/buy-in too much? Is $2/player/buy-in a better amount?

If the buy-in is only $10, I'd say $2 is better. But you didn't say how much people are spending on rebuys.

And is the bounty on one player? do you get it the first time he busts, or the first time he busts w/out rebuying?

Re: NLHE Tournament with Bounty

The rebuys are usually unlimited per player for the first half hour.

Normally, do you only allow each player to buy a bounty chip on the initial buy-in or with each subsequent rebuy as well?

Re: NLHE Tournament with Bounty

i've played in a number of bounty tournaments (though never hosted one). my experience is that the bounty is between 20% and 25% of the buy-in. $10 bounty / $40 or $50 entry, or $20 bounty / $100 entry. that's if the bounties are player-funded of course.

house-funded can be anything.

I don't really know.....We have a policy at my game that if you go out in the first blind structure, you can re-buy, and that includes a new bounty chip (re-paying the $10 on the $40 buy-in)

Re: NLHE Tournament with Bounty

I would suggest $1 bounty, for a $10 buy-in, and they can get another one if they rebuy.

My 2 bits...

**EDIT** Unless of course the bounty is additional to the buy-in....meaning you gotta pay $10+bounty to sit down. Then you can make it whatever you want...$2 sounds fair. If it is going to come out of the buy-in keep it to $1.

Again....my 2 bits....

Re: NLHE Tournament with Bounty

The tournaments I host we do not do rebuys, so out of the 300 Riyals ($82) buy-in I take 25 ($7) riyals for the bounty pot. Everyone gets a bounty chip and at the end of the night, whoever has the most bounty chips wins the Bounty pot.

I also 2 bounty chips to those who finished in the money in the previous month's tournament. This gives some incintive to take one of those people out!

Re: NLHE Tournament with Bounty

I was thinking about doing a bounty amount in addition to the buy-in. The buy-in would be $10 and the bounty would be $2 additional.

Would it work if I were to divvy up the bounty based on the number of bounty chips you've collected? Basically, you would get $2 times the number of bounty chips you hold. Would that work?

Also, a player only stands to lose his/her own bounty chip, right? If a particular player has collected 5 other players' bounty chips and then gets knocked out, he/she would lose his/her own bounty chip, not the 5 that he/she has collected. Is that correct?

Re: NLHE Tournament with Bounty

It worked great that way as well. Basically you are selling the bounty chip and giving it a face value of $2. When the bounty chips are given back to you at the end of the tournament they are still worth the $2 and the payout is determined by how many the player redeems.

Yes this is exactly how I run it, as well as many other members here.

No they can only lose their own. They get money for everyone they knockout. This is the reason why I like these, because everyone has the chance to win some money during the game, even if they don't cash in the actual tournament.
