Vigo Villas Invitational NLHE Tourney ***PICTURES***

My girlfriend and I are hosting our next big poker tournament tomorrow night. So far we have 27 people signed up. For a total pot of 8100 Riyals or $2225. Paying out to the top 5 and a Bounty Pot. It is a T5000 with starting stacks of

12 x $25
12 x $100
5 x $500
1 x $1000

I don't like starting with 4 denoms but I had no choice since when I did my counts for my Tarheel Poker Club chips I never realized I would be holding a tourney of this size.

We started prepping last night which included stocking the Bar, her cooking 12 dozen chocolate chip cookies, me eating lots of cookie dough, cleaning up, and trying to figure out how we are going to get that many people in the house seated and able to walk around to get food during the breaks. It will be crowded but we are both excited and can't wait till tomorrow night!

Of course lots of Pictures will be posted following the tourney!

Re: Vigo Villas Invitational NLHE Tourney

Pics coming...I have over 300 pics to go through and upload.

I just had to come post before I started going though the pics.

First off, we got to play with my new Tarheel Poker Club Chipcos! Everyone was raving about how they looked and a few asked where, how much, how long, etc... It was great, they looked great in stacks and in the pots. Only thing was a few people did seem to have a slight problem distinguishing the black and purple chips from each other. Lighting was quite as bright as I would have wanted so I could see the difficulty, but it really wasn't that big of a deal.

We ended up with 22 participants, starting with 3 tables, 1 of 8 and 2 of 7... Duration of the tournament was right at 6 hours, which I liked. A few people who made the final table of 9 had some real nice stacks.

Bubble Boy busted out and that left the 5 that were In The Money. Yours truly was one of them. I was sitting 4th in chips with about T11,000, blinds are 800/1600 and the difference between 2nd and 3rd was huge, so I needed a big pot to get higher in the money.

20 mins later I double up after pushing preflop with Ad Qs. Got called by BB who shows K8o and has me covered. K on the flop with 2 d's, turn brings 3rd diamond and yep the river brings the last diamond to make my flush. I got lucky to catch the flush, but I am stoked now.

Next hand, SB is now on tilt after that beat and pushes preflop and gets caught by KK, he's gone... three of us left now. I think I forgot to mention 5th place went out early once making the money.

Long story short I get to heads-up action but am at a huge disadvantage of close to 3 to 1 in chips. HU play lasted about 20 mins of back and forth and then I got caught acting first trying to push middle pair.

I took down second place for 1610 Riyals or $242. I have no curse on me for playing with my new chips and making the money!

I would have like 1st place, but man what a night. It was awesome!!! They are already asking when we are playing the next tournament!

Pictures added Here

Sorry about the quality of some of the shots. I had my exposure time set higher for better pictures. The people using my camera did not realize that with that setting you have to hold the camera extremely steady or you get blurry shots. Oh well I am not complaining too much as I was unable to keep getting up from the table to take pictures.
