What is a "big" home game?

What would you consider a "big" home game. Not big as in number of people, but big as in buy in, amount of money at stake, etc.

I got a call from a guy to come show up at his game, which he claimed was big.

So I pose the question to the group, what is "big"?

Re: What is a "big" home game?

I dunno.

My $0.50-$1.00 Game ends up with over $3K on the table.

I think that is kinda big...

yeah man... that's a "big" home game. I might go as low as 3/6 limit for "big" if the games were mixed and people liked to cap.

of course, if 1/2 is normal in the area, a 2/5 NL game might be "big". If 2/5 is passe, then it'd have to be 20/40+ limit ('cause fish don't play NL at these stakes) or the vaunted 5/10 NLHE home game that I dream of.

Call me if that's the case.

5/10 NLHE that's insane.

Normal home games around here are probably 0.25/0.50 NL or 0.50/1 NL. I play 1/2 NL at the bars.

I've also heard there's a 10/20 PL omaha hi/lo game about a 2 hour drive from my place. It's a bunch of fisherman who play. I wish I was rolled for that

Re: What is a "big" home game?

That's kinda what I was thinking- My typical home game is a $2/5 NLHE, $2/5 with a $10 bring in NLHE or $5/10 NLHE. With no cap on the buy in. If we play limit, which is rare, but happens, it's in the 10/20 to 15/30 range, often with a half or full kill.

So, what I expected when he said that was- it was something in the range of $5/10 NLHE on the low end and $10/20 or $10/25 NLHE on the higher end as a "big" home game.

Re: What is a "big" home game?

Yeah, but you play high quads. Honestly, any 1/2 NLHE game is "big" for it's pond.

.... man, I wish I could afford to play in a 5/10 NLHE home game, that would be GREAT unless they all actually know how to play I'm not even rolled for 1/2 right now.

... but I'll play

Re: What is a "big" home game?

It's all relative...big to me ain't necessarily big to you. The guy who said his game was "big" would have to define that for you.

In my world, big would be 1/2 no limit.

Re: What is a "big" home game?

depends if the guy and his buddies are rich then 25/50 NLHE or 100/200 LHE would be big.
