Mount Pleasant Police uncovers and shuts down illegal gambling site

Mount Pleasant, SC (April 13, 2006) – Mount Pleasant Mayor Harry M. Hallman, Jr. announced today the successful conclusion of an illegal gambling investigation in Mount Pleasant.
Several months ago, the Mount Pleasant Police received complaints in reference to illegal gambling activities and began a thorough investigation. Officers observed 15 to 20 vehicles visiting the residence several days a week.
The investigation further revealed that the resident was hosting a gaming operation of Texas Hold’em and that the house was being paid percentages from each gambling participant.
Mount Pleasant Police obtained a search warrant after establishing probable cause and executed the warrant on April 12, 2006. The officers observed approximately 12 to 15 cars at the residence and seized $5,869 u pon entering the premises. The officers charged 22 individuals with gambling, three drug charges were made, and courtesy summons issued. Fourteen out of the 22 individuals charged were not Mount Pleasant residents.
“I would like to commend the Mount Pleasant Police Department for their diligent police work and professionalism,” said Mayor Hallman. “I am proud of our nationally certified force and satisfied with the clear message they are sending to law breakers – we will not tolerate this type of activity in our town.”
They took the cash out of the womans tip jar, she's a waitress at a local bar. They took all the money out of the owners desk and the cars that were parked on the premises. The cops were dressed in full swat regalia with faces covered , cable tied everyone but a 78 year old lady and fined all $267.50.
