OK, I decided to host a holiday poker blowout starting at noon and continuing on through the night. I have two tables, accomodating a total of 18 players max. I invited a whole bunch of people, saying that they could come and go throughout the day and evening, and thinking that the player load would be somewhat even throughout the day. Well, I was wrong, and it looks like only about seven are coming in the afternoon with maybe 17-20 more in the evening (a lot of folks said "yes" that I really didn't expect to--this poker thing is getting too damn popular).

I was planning on having a cash game going most of the time, with a few quickie sit-and-gos interspersed throughout the day, and culminating in a final two-table rebuy tournament in the evening. But with the crowd, I'm not sure everyone will get to play who wants to for lack of seats.

Anybody else had this problem? What was your solution?

My invitation must have got lost in the mail.

Grab a set of dice and have a game of craps in a corner. No seats needed, if you can squat, you can play craps.

quickly build another table.

I will be building a table for my game on the 30th. I can seat 18 right now. I have 30 invited. two days is all it really takes to build a quick table.

1. Do a "names in the hat" style lottery.

or

2. Increase the buy-in costs to find the cut-off point where "supply meets demand" and you slim out a few players.

in a 1 table NL game we have if a player busts out they have to give up their seat to who's waiting and get in the back of the line.....
