Chips: 896 | | | Bounties No offense to Brewster or any of the others out there from the Great White North, but my new regular game has thus far only been won by Canadians. Isn't the US current account deficit bad enough with giving our neighbors to the north our poker money?
We're thinking about adding a bounty to the pay-out. Probably nothing as drastic as a bounty for each Canadian eliminated, but probably just the winner of the last tourney. Especially since the last three games have been won by the same woman.
Obviouslly not really trying to ethnically cleanse our game, but trying something to add a bit of fun if it works as planned.
Do any of you have bounties in your home games? If so, how has it worked out. And in the case with a repeat winner, should we hold the bounty out of the payout in order to increase it the next time around? |

If you're not careful, you may start a ChipTalk "border war"... of course, I'd bet that our crack Canadian Chiptalkers would easily handle any collection of US players. |

OK here's how we are gonna do our bounties. I got it from Scott Keen's forum and I can't remember who posted the format. The Bounty Hunt: Kill or Be Killed!
* For those that are interested they can pay an extra $10 to be part of the "Bounty Hunt."
* Bounties are purchased at initial Buy-in only. (You can’t decide to play the bounty after you re-buy)
* Each "Bounty" player gets a special Token. When one bounty player eliminates another bounty player they claim the others token.
* You must eliminate the other player. A player who re-buys IS NOT eliminated. That player retains their token until they are eliminated by a bounty hunter.
* When you are eliminated by a Bounty player, you ONLY give YOUR Bounty token and NOT Bounty tokens you have accumulated to that point. Once you win a Bounty token, it’s all yours to cash in.
* After you are eliminated from the tourney turn in each “Bounty” token you have collected (plus yours) for $10 each! I would prefer if the payouts were done either at the end of the tournament or when I'm available to pay out. If I'm in a hand....wait!!
* Only Bounty players may collect bounties when knocking out others. You gotta pay to play!
* HAPPY HUNTING!
My tournament format is posted here: http://www.unkyperv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17 |

Chips: 4,436 | | | There's something I don't understand about these optional bounty structures where some participate and some do not.
What happens when a non-participant knocks out a participant? Who does that $10 go to? |

Chips: 5,848 | | | Typically, the person that was knocked out by a non-bounty player gets their money back. |

Everyone who plays gets the usual bounty chip, but the previous tournaments big winner has a super bounty on their head. We take 10% of their winnings from the previous tourney and whoever eliminates that person wins the super bounty plus the usual bounty. Makes for a very fun game to have a 'most wanted' player!
By the way, I am running the bounty chip gb. See here for details: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3827 |

Chips: 732 | | | I like the knock them out and win their token option with all players (or most) and the single bounty for last week's winner idea. What I really want to try, though, is a reward bounty where when you knock someone out you get a bonus # of chips. This could be 50% of the initial buy-in, x% of the median stack, or dependent on the blinds (x BB's).
A combination of this or a cash-value would also be cool...force a player to decide if they want to hold the bounty chip for $x or cash it in for chips and a better chance to win the tournament.
Unfortunately I haven't tried any of the above yet, but I ordered 40 american beauties to serve as my sexy bounty chips and hope to get them into play for all tournaments even if it's just a $1 bounty for knocking people out. |

Chips: 4,436 | | | I think paying bounties with chips could really throw the tourney out of wack (but I haven't really crunched the numbers). Assuming a player is doing well and eliminated several players, they should have a large stack of chips they won from others. To add multiple bounty stacks to that seems like they would have an overwhelming advantage. The other factor is that someone who knocks out a short stack would receive the same amount in their bounty stack as a person who knocks out a big stack on an all-in call. I don't like the idea of giving identical chips in return for varying levels of risk from players. Sorry for the rambling response, it just seems flawed to me and I'm trying to work out why. |

Chips: 4,436 | | Isn't that the same as paying them a bounty for themselves?
They put in $10 with the understanding that they would only get $10 back for each player they eliminated. If a person was the first person knocked out (by a non-participant), they would get their $10 back without having done anything to earn it. Quote: |

Chips: 1,577 | | | I run the bounty in one of three ways:
Each person buys, a chip- $2, or $5
or
Winner from last event puts up- $5
or
I put up "host" bounty- knock me out get $5
Last one makes it a little more interesting for me!!! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
