Chips: 1 | | | cash game hey guys,
just curious as to how you guys go about setting up your regular cash games. me and my buddies are wanting to start playing this way as we have only ever been involved in tourneys. any info would be appreciated such as number of chips, and the structure you use such as maximums and minumums for buy-ins and that kind of stuff.
thanks in advance for any info

Chips: 19 | | | Me and my friends usually keep things pretty cheap. $20.00 buy in. You can buy more if you go broke but this pretty much keeps everybody going for a while. Breaks down to,
$0.10 X 15
$0.25 X 6
$0.50 X 6
$1.00 X 4
$2.00 X 5
The $1 and $2 chips are there mainly to make change with. Most games start with a dime ante. We don't play any no-limit stuff, Max only $0.50 raise per round.( Raises get bigger as the night goes on we play it by ear). Dealer calls the game, we play things like Texas hold-em, 7 card stud, 10, Omaha, 5 card draw. The games we play also depends on the amount of people. Most pots are usually only about $1.50 total but we are just looking to have fun. I usually go home having made or lost around $5.00. Its fine with me because where else can I get about 4 hours of entertainment for 5 bucks.
Hope this helps. |

Chips: 1,728 | | | Re: cash game It pretty much depends on how you want to play and how much you want to play for. You could play a table limit, which is pretty much like no-limit with the restriction that you can only bet the chips that you have on the table; a spread limit where you have a minimum and maximum bet; or a straight limit game, like the ones that you find in many casinos and cardrooms where there is a fixed limit bet (e.g. $2 pre-flop with $2 raises, $4 post-flop with $4 raises). Insofar as buy-ins it should be proportional to the minimum bet, maybe 20-30 times the big blind, so for a $2/4 game you might want to have the buy-in at $40-60 with re-buys at whatever you want to set. You can also choose to use antes if you want.
We usually play a spread limit dealer's choice game with a 25¢ ante and a $1-5/$2-10 structure or some variation along those lines (50¢/$2-10/$4-20). Quote: |

Chips: 502 | | | I keep it simple..No limit and you can rebuy (up to original buy-in amount) anytime your chips fall at/below 1/2 of original buy in.
buy-in = $20, blinds = .25/.50
buy-in = $25, blinds = .25/.50
buy-in = $40, blinds = .50/1.00
buy-in = $50, blinds = .50/1.00
We start out with no lower than 40 big bets. Others may post that prefer to start out with more than 40 big bets, but this has worked out very well in our games. |

Chips: 1,987 | | | I'll run 1/2, 2/4, and 4/8 limit cash games...with buyins of $30,l $60 and $120 respectively
I use white, blue and red NCV pharaohs
for 1/2 I give 10 white (50cents) and 25 blue ($1), rebuys using red ($5)
for 2/4 I give 10 white ($1) and 25 blue ($2), rebuys using red ($10)
for 4/8 I give 10 white ($2) and 25 blue ($4), rebuys using red ($20) |

Originally Posted by PocketRocket You could play a table limit, which is pretty much like no-limit with the restriction that you can only bet the chips that you have on the table; [snip] | Actually, that isn't "pretty much like" no-limit, that is no-limit, as far as today's commercial poker scene goes. I don't think any poker room allows anything but "table stakes" poker, regardless of the game structure (limit, spread-limit, pot-limit, no-limit). Now of course, there probably still are home games which may allow the Hollywood-style "I'll call your pink slip and raise you my title deed" style of no-limit (I actually used to play with a bunch of guys about ten years ago where we would literally pull out our checkbooks and wallets and throw them in the pot to make a scary all-in bet), but I don't recommend that kind of game.
Anyway, my home cash games are either:
Limit Hold'em, 50¢/$1 with a Kill: $10 min. buy-in (no max, because it doesn't really matter in limit). Usually give out 40 x 25¢ chips (actually $25 chips, but we use the divide-by-100 rule) for the first $10, additional funds are exchanged for $1 chips. In limit games, you generally want as few denoms in play as possible, for smooth running simplicity. The main chip should be one-half to one-quarter the small bet to allow posting of the small blind.
No-Limit Hold'em, 10¢/25¢ or 25¢/50¢ blinds: Min. buy-in $10, maximum $25. For 10¢/25¢ blinds, first $10 gets 10 x 5¢, 38 x 25¢; for 25¢/50¢ blinds, $10 gets 40 x 25¢ chips. additional funds in $1 or $5. Sometimes with a lot of players (or a lot of drunks) I will give out fewer chips (20 x 25¢ and 5 x $1) for the first $10. |

Chips: 572 | | | My gang are all $1/$2 NL (just like in real casinos!) junkies. We will typically make or lose up to $400 in a game.
I start everybody out with $100 (50 x BB), though I'll allow folks to buy in with less. I set them up with 20 $1 and 16 $5.
I allow rebuys back to $100 at any time. Rebuys are always for $25 chips. This keeps the mountains from getting too large.
Bank usually ends up at $2000 or more.
We are strictly table stakes, and we do not permit ratholing.
If I'm in a particularly cruel mood, I'll take the limits off.
We allow players to chop if there are at least 6 playing.
On tourney night, I open up a side game for the busted players at $.25/$.50 blinds, with a $25 buy in because $20 tourney guys seem a little wary of ring games. 20 $.25 chips and 20 $1 chips work well.
After the tourney I'll open up a 2nd table at $1/$2. (OK, who wants to take their skirt off?)
Next up: the $2/$5 $300 game. Could get nasty. |

Chips: 19 | | | We have never used blinds in our games. I think it is something I would like to try one day but for now things are running smooth the way they are. |

Chips: 111 | | | Mostly we play 3/6 limited game, no min or max on buyin. Players generally buyin between $100 to $200. I don't think it matters how much buyin for a limited game, limiting max buyin is only important in a NL game. |
